Proves talent incredibly more important than a chin.

1. Roid never beat a lineal, undisputed, or unified champ in his entire career. He consistently picked off the weakest titleholder he could find as he carefully manuevered throughout the divisions and was never unequivocally "the man" in any division that he fought in.

2. Roid consistently failed to make any of the biggest fights from happening by pricing himself out of them, refusing to travel, and outright ducking. He wanted no part of Benn, Eubank, Calzaghe, Nunn, McClellan, or Michalczewski because he knew that there was more than a fair chance that his China Chin would be violently shattered.

3. He never beat "the Heavyweight Champion of the World". He beat a fat, feather fisted slob who had a HW trinket belt. Once again, Glass Jaw Roy handpicks the easiest opponent he can find and then wins a stinker in which there were multiple rounds in which he barely broke the double digits on punches thrown. Jones wanted no part of the true HW champion, Lennox Lewis, nor did he want to defend his "title" against his mandatory who was none other than Vitali Klitschko. He knew they would both destroy him so he ran back to LHW and still had his Glass Shattered over and over again.

Roid is a Glass Jawed Joke and his career was a dog-and-pony show in which he showed more skillful matchmaking than he ever did fighting.

 

talent is much more important than chin durability. there is a neverending slew of good to great fighters who had breakable chins and unbelievable talent. how many fighters with great chins and very little talent are on the all time great list?

Talent is NOT some esoteric attitude external to the set of attributes you need in order to be a champ.
Actually chin is one of the (many) talents you need (or, at least, which is very useful) to be a great boxer. For example it's one of key attributes of many great heavyweight champions such as Marciano, Foreman, Ali, Holmes.
In Wilson's case, unfortunately for him, it was the only talent he had.

 

Chins matter..
Marvin Hagler beated Hearns because he had the superior chin, Khan lost to Prescott because his chin is garbage, Lamon Brewster beated Wladimr because his jaw wasn't made out of china, some story for Puritty, Librado Andrade would also have beaten Lucian Bute if Bute's homosexual lover wasn't in the ring with him that night :rofl:rofl:rofl

 

chins obviously matter, but it's not the end all be all. thomas hearns had a highly questionable chin that was broken several times but he's in the ibhof and is considered one of the greatest fighters ever, because his talent overshadowed any deficiency he had in the chin department.

 

Thats as tough of a resume as i have ever seen

eh those were more due to him running out of gas and having stamina issues as opposed to a chin problem

Wlad just collapsed in sheer exhaustion between rounds and the ref waved it, he stayed up during a Brewster assault despite having nothing left if anything that shows something about his punch taking ability

 

I wonder what makes a guy go pro at age 33. And he was 51 in his last fight.
