Barry Hall's already 'jumped in there' mate.

    Been there. Done that :good

Fought as an amateur. Won a junior title. Gave the boxing up to concentrate on Aussie rules. Played about 15 years of it. Won most things worth winning, accumulated a fortune, and now at 35 and decided he's had enough of competitive sport. Get over it :patsch

Why criticize the bloke for not fighting? He could have just turned up and milked half a mil. Instead he's been honest enough to tell it how it is and walk away from a huge payday.

Ben Wrotniak: “Barry Hall is a coward”

While the majority of the Australian boxing fans rejoice about not having to fork out $50 to watch a retired footballer make his boxing debut, one man Ben Wrotniak has totally different feelings after Barry Hall pulled out of fighting him just 2 days after the contracts were signed for their mid May fight which was scheduled for Melbourne on PPV television.

The #9 ranked Australian Heavyweight, Wrotniak was due to make $50,000 for fighting Hall as well as the exposure and sponsorships that come with it.

“My contract had in a minimum of 10 TV interviews,” Wrotniak told Aus-Boxing.com.

On Tuesday morning Joe Cursio, the promoter of the show flew in from Melbourne to have lunch with Ben at the Quantas Club in the Domestic Airport. After a conversation of over an hour the contracts for the fight were signed.

“I found out Hall was retiring shortly after I did my live interview on Melbourne Radio on Thursday afternoon,” said Wrotniak.

“I was gutted and shocked! How could a seasoned professional do something so irresponsible. The contract had been signed, the stadium booked, Joe Cursio told me he himself was gutted and furious, as he had prepared this occasion for the last 8 months.”

With Wrotniak missing out on the $50,000 purse for the fight, Cursio said that he maybe able to retrieve some compensation for Ben’s troubles but the chances are slim.

“I feel as if Barry Hall should be made to pay my purse in full. Whilst I can understand his reasons for quitting I can’t believe he waited this long and than just quit,” an angry Wrotniak told Aus-Boxing.com on Friday morning.

“When he (Hall) saw an opponent that was confident and not scarred of him he pulled out like a little girl! He should be held liable, he has talked the talk for years but he hasn’t got the guts to fight a novice pro fighter but has got the guts to dog shot people (AFL) The bloke is **** weak and a gutless coward.”

“I would love a shot at SBW,” stated Wrotniak. “Im hoping in light of the past events in the last 48 hours, Kodar Nasser will be nice enough to give me an opportunity to fight the New Zealand heavyweight champion.”

What else would you expect Ben Wrotniak to say?

But it's an absolute joke anyone would actually believe Barry Hall pulled out because he was scared of his opponent :patsch

Wrotniak is just like every other mug pug getting around, everyone knows there is only X amount of money available for Aussie boxing & everyone, him included has to be over the top, a wanker, a big mouth, do handstands to get their slice of the pie, it doesnt matter how you get it, just beat the next bloke to an opportunity

Wrotniak just missed out on a big opportunity, thats the name of the game, why would anyone be surprised??

He has every right to be disappointed. But what has it really cost him other than a few weeks training that won't have done him any harm anyway?

The payday was only ever going to be there IF the fight with Hall took place, and it sounds like it isn't going ahead.

It's for the best. It would have been nothing but a circus and made a complete joke of the sport.

Big deal...he had a change of heart. Like he said he wasn't up the demanding riggers of what it takes to compete with everything that boxing needs. Anyone who can't understand this I seriously doubt have ever gloved up and entered the ring for the ultimate test. Jesus, the bloke played at the elite level for 17 years, has ****ed knees and ankles and bitches on here still want to rip him to pieces...jealousy is a ***** untamed.

Staker would have been 20-30kg lighter and he never seen the punch coming.
Barry Hall went around hitting blokes from behind, talked up a boxing career and all of a sudden doesn't want to be a boxer anymore after signing a contract.
He is a **** weak ****t, end of story...

all of a sudden a boxing career was starting to look real after signing the contract and all of a sudden his ball sack become inverted.

Of course he has to talk ****, like every other bloke who has to self promote to potentially get bums on seats, if you go along with all the crap these blokes talk, & take it seriously then you must also be a fan of wrestling or as dumb as tcboxa

Boxing is the kind of sport that hoodwinks naive, dim working class men into parting with cash to watch corrupt fights & blokes who have been managed by smart marketing, money men, look at how smart SBW & mundine have been, Hall could have proven just as succesful in the bull**** stakes but he decided he didnt want to continue with all the bull****, its his perogative

Obviously you were one of the dills sucked in by the start of his promotional campaign, you would have been sucked in by the rest if he kept going

Thats where your wrong, barry hall didn't need to talk himself up to be a boxer and hit blokes from behind to market himself. He is already a well known sports man and a marketed athlete, he didn't need to talk the talk before jumping in the ring. All he had to do was train and jump in the ring and actually fight. All the non boxing fans who follow afl would have payed to see him fight.
Now all the real boxing fans know the bloke is a joke and a **** weak dog.
People bag mundine and SBW but these bloke actually jumped between the ropes. I am a fight fan and follow boxing, muay thai and mma religiously, but i would have never payed money to watch barry hall fight, just like i don't pay $50 to watch SBW fight. I train and fight myself and it shits me when clowns like hall talk it up and say they want to fight only real fighters. I like how you stereo types boxing fans, calling them Naive, dim witted working class men. Sounds like your the naive fool because if you where a real fight fan you would realise what a **** weak dog barry hall is.

Where i come from if you want to talk the talk you better be able to back it up.. Barry hall is ALL TALK...
