This is perfect for VVarren though isn't it?

In house means that he will have the winner who then takes the compulsory soft defence, meaning that the next big fight will be around spring 2013. The 'big boys' i.e. Marquez, Rios and Guerrero will have moved on leaving a very doable set of unifications.

    Unless Broner moves up ;)

Mitchell needs to fight at a higher level to prove himself further, whether its a Katsidis rematch or perhaps a fight with Moses / Acosta. Hell id even take Gavin Rees at this point

but more than likely ol fish eyes will make this fight next

Johanneson had him out on his feet, seconds away from taking him clean out.
Prescott couldn't hit a barn door with a banjo! (Just Khan and McCloskey;))

Whereas Mitchell survived and stopped him.

How did Carl's fight with Burns go?

This. But of course gets forget when knocking Mitchell. But it's ok to bash Kevin Mitchell because he's never held a paper belt.

All in all, I think Burns wins a close but clear points win, Burns won't stop him and Mitchell is being slightly underrated, he is a decent boxer in his own right, most importantly this is a good fight and entertaining one imo.

It's all down to Burns IMO, and whilst he should look good here and dictate the flow, it'd take an extremely disciplined and perfect performance on his feet to stop this being fairly competitive. Mitchell thrives when his man comes at him, allowing him to fire his fast and sharp punches whilst moving and re-setting at his own pace. Close the gap and you'll have success, that we know.

However, Burns will pop and mve. Mitchell, who is best when countering or catching his man with a sharp one as he's stepping out, will struggle to get his timing down against Burns who has the longer jab and will step back after firing. Mitchell will fall short way more often than not IMO.

So he's ****ed at establishing a rythym as well. Burns decision for me, in a fairly one-sided affair. I don't think Burns is levels ahead but he's just as seasoned now in fringe world class circles anyway, and the styles matchup favours him.

Mitchell could have success when Burns coasts though, and he does get himself in some perilous situations when he does it. He likes to keep his hands up, move back in straight lines and cover up while his man unloads as Ricky's up against the ropes. He can take an age to step out to the side of clinch, and Mitchell will have a chance to change levels there and create an opportunity to body or head.

I just doubt Mitchell can do it consistently enough to break Burns down as he did against Murray, or get off first enough to dictate the pace or find enough countering opportunities. Burns is durable enough and whilst a fairly dangerous man power wise, Mitchell is no banger.

In short, not a great fight for Kev IMO.

That's a good and fair assessment Flea, I think it is mostly down to Burns and how he performs, I do think Kevin is the smarter fighter and can pick his punches a bit better, he needs to be on top of his game though and Burns to be a bit sloppy.
Burns is more proven at world level for sure but his best performances have come against people standing in front of him trying to knock him out as well.
I don't think Mitchell will do that, I think he will try to box him and throw sneaky counters?
Will it be enough to win? I doubt it but I think it makes for a good fight.

Agreed on Burns' stylistic opponents this far, but I think Burns is better suited to a mid-range punch picking battle, which it'll be unless Kev' (or Ricky) show something different, but as I said above I think it's Burns that has the edge there, on a style-by-style assessment anyway ;-) :good

Burns stops him with body shots, slowly but surely breaks Kev's will to fight on.
