Yes he would be mandatory but if he lost his world crumbles and he has to rebuild. I don't know how clued up on Paul 'SCRAP IRON' Ryan you lot are but once upon a time he had a world title shot waiting for him, he fought an unknown and unheralded ex kickboxer called Jon Thaxton and was brutally ko'd. Needless to say it pissed on his parade and ruined his chance of fighting for a title.

Boxing is more business than sport. You only have to watch Pac v JMM to understand that.

WBO have to take some of the blame here. Groves/Anderson II has been scheduled for a while yet they set a purse bid for today. ****ing stupid.

Gutted for Anderson, hopefully if Groves beats Steiglitz, his first defence will be against Kenny, or atleast vacate the British title.

Pad-Man will you shut the **** up trying to make it sound right. The more you say it doesn't make it so.

****ing with people's careers. If he is so much better than Anderson, prove it.

This is a horrible shitty way of doing business and I hope he gets smashed to **** in his "world" title fight, then comes back and gets the same treatment from Kenny Anderson.

    Little ginger runt.

    This, absolutely spot on.

The bids should of been delayed till next Monday. Anderson should also get a cut of Groves purse and bbboc should force it.

Great point. Very odd timing indeed, why not wait until this time next week?

It's a shame I like Groves and would like to see him get the Stieglitz fight but if there were really no medical reasons, I'm disappointed that he's chosen not to fulfil his commitments and has let down a lot of people (supporters as well as the other fighters on the bill).

of course it's a bad move for boxing...groves not done himself any favours at all if his injury isn't genuine..I'm just glad I had work commitments so couldn't make it any way. It's bad enough when you book transport/hotels etc and lose a fight due to genuine injury...this just doesn't look good at all and would definitely make me think twice before booking up to see him again.

And what the **** is this diversionary bollocks Bunce is pulling with the entrance singers garbage ? We don't care mate, it's fooling noone. What a pity it is that we couldn't have an independent dedicated boxing channel...I'm a boxnation subscriber and while it's great we get to see more fights I'm coming to the conclusion that it's doomed to failure by the obvious conflicts of interest. I almost feel sorry for Bunce (aka comical ali)...must be hard transforming yourself from journalist to PR man.

Pretty sure Jason Booth kept his British title when he challenged Molitor for the IBF belt.

However, if Groves is going down the WBO route it'd make sense for hi to vacate the British and allow Anderson to fight someone else for it.

Surely he must be vacating? A bit redundant to hang onto the British and Commonwealth belts with the WBO around your waist.

Of course, keeping them as insurance against a loss would basically mean Groves' team having their cake with cookies in their pockets.
