Hmmm. Well even Sugar Shane who never a good boxer was able to jab to the body well vs Floyd. Cotto is a better boxer than Shane, but doesnt have Shanes chin or power. Cottos combination punching will be both his best and worst weapon vs Floyd. Floyd will be like the cobra ready to strike. Cotto best jab to chest or body then follow up with right hooks both those punches have given Floyd trouble in the past. But one thing is to have Floyd hurt and another finish him off. Cotto should take his time if he did hurt Floyd and let the ko come. Get reckless you start making mistakes and mistakes is what Floyd lives off from.
I actually see the jab kd part of the original post as being more likely to occur than the body-shot. Jab kd's are usually the result of timing, and because the victim for whatever gets caught off-balance/unaware and can't prepare for the shot. Cotto's got a good hard jab, and times it well. And it's the type of punch that can score a kd, if it lands properly (e.g. the Clottey kd). But if this does happen, it would likely occur in the early rounds when Mayweather is still trying to get into his groove. And something tells me that if something like this did take place, Mayweather has a pretty good shot of returning the favor with his own well timed jab a bit later on. (He's scored kd's with his jab, too.) (Chances of this happening are fairly limited anyway...Just saying that it's not entirely beyond the realm of imagination is all) But the bodyshot KO? Nah...Can't see that, unless something ridiculous happens and May has an awful training camp. Otherwise, he'll be in condition to withstand the body-shots and stay upright when they connect. He usually is in top-flight condition when he fights.
Well, I need someone who will take that bet or else it wouldn't be considered a bet. I am not a fan on Mayweather or Cotto but I have a feeling Mayweather will win this fight. :good
I don't know all about this jab stuff, but I feel Cotto can win. He will hurt PBF at some point, but it will not be a jab. We are talking about PBF.
In the end its going to come down to if Cotto is fighting like his former self or his damaged self. If he really is anywhere close to his old self he's going to give Floyd hell. In the Pacman fight he looked so very unfocused. Like he didn't punch with confidence or conviction. Samething vs Clottey he started very strong then let Clottey into the fight. The Cotto that used angles quick feet and hands vs Mosley gives both Manny and Floyd a difficult fight.
Forget the names folks, and forget how they fight, hell Forget everything you know about boxing, this idea sounds only 30% as ******ed then.
It is reasonable to suggest he could at least go down once,or get buzzed if connected with a hard, solid perfectly placed punch from Cotto..
