Don't think this has been posted yet. Thought you guys might find it interesting. http://ringtv.craveonline.com/blog/171879-wolak-eyes-mma
The article says Wolak wrestled in high school and he reckons he can hold his own with almost anybody when he trains at it now. So some of the foundation is already in place.
Good to hear about ANOTHER boxer with an MMA background. This whole MMA vs boxing thing was bull**** when you look at Cintron, Hatton, Klits, Williams etc With contender level boxing and pre-state level wrestling then the base is there as good as anyones. He has started working the kick boxing and is aware of the jits. Who knows. He has nothing to lose. As a former wrestler and non world champion boxer he shouldn't have the same ego as Floyd Mayweather for example.
with a wrestling base background he could find some success he will deffos do better then james tony ha!
He also understands how to take a strike. Don't take this the wrong way MMA guys, but some MMA guys with a wrestling background seem to stuggle absorbing or understanding how to deal strikes.
Absolutely agree, some panic, well quite alot panic, but it's only natural. That's no disrespect meant to the sport of MMA . The same is true when guys from a deep striking backgound get taken down to the floor some panic.
Looking forward to seeing how Wolak goes. The 'Irish Handgranade' used to be one of my favourites, and though he took a while to get the hang of MMA, once he did, he did well.
