    watch boxers jab, watch their back shoulder, it dont move that much, now watch your self jab.

    id work on that.

    As you can see i stayed in a more open area for my footwork and tied my legs together to keep the distance the same and get used to my stance more .. im far different from this now, back then i would wanna show how fast i was (i still do sometimes, especially now that im faster) but i would only think of hitting hitting & hitting and never get hit.. Technique, do is slowly and relaxed. It will help you alot in the ring feeling more comfortable and not being stiff, don't keep your body square and your hooks have to be perfect horizontal for now (you can tweak it up later stages). My hair used to be like yours and i simply shaved it off, honestly if you put on a heaguard your gonna feel like **** after ..

    Thats rough jeff .. we never went in a gym and started sparring professionals. Maybe he just wants the sport as self defense and a hobby he's still new. Knowing your knowledge you could give him a small tip here and there which could really help him

    one of the first things my coach corrected sooo many years ago was that i was rotating my right shoulder into my left jab telegraphing the punch, and in actually throwing a left straight not a jab.

    this dude is doing the same thing, to inform him that his jab is wrong, and give him advice like stop rotating your back shoulder into the jab as much because thats not how boxers jab, is a great place to start as far as correcting things and is infinatly better advice then "get to a gym, you suck."

    As mentioned earlier, you seem to be squared up too much, and you do things like drop your hands to throw uppercuts. Too much loop in the left hook. This are things you can see and correct by watching in the mirror: You can look and see what an opponent would see, where he would hit you, what your feints (at some point in the future) look like, etc...
    When you get to a point where you are for real shadow boxing- not just throwing punches- my first question to you would be "what are you thinking?" because it is primarily a mental activity.

    Thanks you really helped what exactly do u mean when u say it is mostly a mental activity. Also the reason i was in such a small place was because my computer battery broke so it always has to be plugged in and thats the only place with a good plug.

    When you shadow box, you are basically fighting a fight in your head. You slip punches, counter, lead, etc...as if you were really fighting. Honestly, you should be doing the same thing when you hit the heavy bag and everything else. You always practice the whole package: the move you make that makes him throw a punch, then the move you make to avoid the punch, the punch or punches themselves, and, finally, getting out. Just like you train your muscles to instinctively throw a hook or a jab, you train your mind to respond to different situations.
    In shadow boxing (and bag work) you visualize and rehearse those situations.
