Bernard Hopkins or Floyd Mayweather, who has a better resume?

Floyd, this coming from a big Hopkins fan (resume that is)

 

I have to say Hopkins. I rank him above everyone else fighting today, apart from possibly RJJ.

 

Floyd. Hopkins didn't really have a strong Middleweight resume in my opinion. Tito and Oscar weren't real middleweights.

 

Hopkins lost to a whiteboy. No way he ranks higher than money may. lol

 

If Hopkins wasn't robbed against Calzaghe and Taylor I'd pick him.

 

In terms of ATG status i'd always put Hopkins above RJJ.

 

This question needs to be asked in more detail.

If they both retired today, who has the better resume?

Easily Hopkins, to be 46 years old and still at world level in nothing short of remarkable, also mayweathers resume still going up to 147 isn't all that great.

lets pretend for a moment all their victories happened while both were aged 30?

20 defences at middleweight gives hopkins the edge for me here too, however this makes what they have both achieved alot closer, as you have to consider Mayweather has managed to remain undefeated for 42 bouts and is it 19 world title fights? also remarkable.

and finally how does their resume compare if you factor in the amount of divisions they have participated in?

this is where Mayweather wins purely because 3 < 5, I'm not actually sure of the weight difference in lbs between the divisions both fighters have went up and it's too late to work it out.

as for being an all time great Hopkins is higher because of the age factor.

 

Mayweather- clearly and easily.

Mayweather challenged himself by going up in weight, fighting champions in 5 divisions, never lost, and has never faced a Morrade Hakaar, Allen (3 times), Bo Lipsey, Ornelas type fighter in his reign. Also, he's never quit either.

Basically, if you're not a biased dip****, it's easily Mayweather.

 

Mayweather beat his undefeated UK whiteboy. Hopkins didn't.

I actually think Mayweather now has the better resume. His win over Ortiz put him past Hopkins but not by much. If be beats Cotto he will be tied with Roy. If he beats Cotto and then beats Pacquiao he's in the top 5.

I think Pacquiao already is in the top 10 so I think at this point Mayweather or Pacquiao has the chance to reach top 5, and even arguably surpass the likes of SRR.

I don't think either one of them will but it's possibly in theory if Floyd beat Cotto, Pacquiao and then Martinez and were still undefeated then he'd definitely be the greatest boxer of all time at that point if he retired right then and there. If Pacquiao beats Bradley, then beats Floyd, he'd be the greatest boxer of all time.

This is why it's so important for boxing that they fight.

 

Hopkins is the best fighter of his era IMO. I have Hopkins over Floyd but Floyd can pass him before his career is over.
