Buckley was a good fighter, despite his 32-256-12 record. Unfortunately in the UK a journeyman generally has to win every round to get a draw, and if they win half the rounds they'll lose a shut out decision.
The highlights for me were his occasional forays into the lightweight division Dropping 4 divisions just to get bombed out in a round. Hardly seems worth it...
Its easy to find no name bums with horrible records. An example of a credible (or once credible) name with a shitty record - Demarcus Corley.
Good defense, rarely got hit, covered up and clinched a lot, pretty much never actually threw a punch.
at least he won 17 fights and drew 5, there was that guy who never ever won a single fight in 30 fights or so. that has to be worse
Heck if I can remember his name, but recently there was some Eastern European super middleweight who retired at like 1-62 and lost his first 45 or so fights in a row.
"The Iron Man" Joe Grim 13-101-12, with only 6 stoppage losses. Unlike the others mentioned in this thread, he actually mixed it with the best in the world, and often. Bob Fitzsimmons, Joe Gans, Barbados Joe Walcott, Jack Johnson, Jack Blackburn, Philadelphia Jack O'Brien, Dave Holly, Sam McVea, Battling Levinsky, Tommy Sullivan, Peter Maher, Jim Barry, Dixie Kid, etc. Of this group of heavy hitters, only the far larger Sam McVea was ever able to take him out. Talk about a cast iron jaw. Not a bad lookin' fella for a guy who made a career out of being a human punching bag: This content is protected
