Bernard Hopkins or Floyd Mayweather, who has a better resume?

  1. Hopkins beat a prime Tito -
Floyd never beat a prime fighter on that level.

Juan Manuel Marquez? oh yeah floyd made him move up 2 weight classes. Whereas tito was a career middleweight.

  3. Tito knocked out thiam, vargas and joppy before they fought tito went up one division from joppy. 5% of weight.

Juan Manuel was fighting at 125 a year before. that is over 15% more weight. Floyd also added extra weight on top of the advantage he had facing a fighter who never fought at 140 ever.

Floyd does not fight p4p fighters unless they are 5 years older than him or at a weight they have no knockouts. fact

Cotto is his biggest challange to date and that is sad for his level of talents.

Yes Marquez was coming off a win over Diaz @ LW, while Trinidad was coming off a win over Joppy @ MW.

Marquez wanted the fight so I had no problem with the fight being at 144lbs but Mr 'hard work dedicayshon' couldn't even make 144 and came in at 146 despite the fact he was facing a much smaller opponent, so I see how Hopkins win over Trinidad (where Hopkins weighed in at 156lbs) is not on the same level as Floyds win over Marquez.

Yes the great William Joppy. Who's best victory at the weight was Hacine Cherifi. :rofl Much better then Marquez getting robbed vs the P4P 1 fighter in the world in Manny Pacquiao.

    William Jpppy > Manny Pacquiao

    Didn't he?

Nobody's going to waste too much breath on your assesments because you consistently, undoubtedly, and excessively defend all things Floyd Mayweather Jr. on this board. Floyd has the better single wins, but Hopkins has much more depth and has accomplished more against greater odds way past his physical prime. History will remember Hopkins for rising to the challenge when he could have simply retired, and will remember Floyd for retiring in years when people were calling for him to fight some of the best.

Nice job avoiding most of my post :patsch,

    Let's get back to the FACTS;

Trinidad coming off a demolition of William Joppy meets Hopkins @160lbs, Hopkins comes in at 156lbs (a 36 year old 6"1 career MW comes in at 156lbs) and becomes the first man to beat Trinidad not only that he KO's him aswell, a 3/1 underdog he was that night.

Marquez was coming off a win over over Juan Diaz, Mayweather Marquez fight agreed for 144lbs - come fight night Floyd despite being the clearly bigger man fighting a guy who's never fought above 135lbs comes in at 146.

I voted Floyd and i'm a big Hopkins fan but if the guy can't see how Hopkins win over Trinidad can't be compared to May's over JMM then he's more deluded then I thought.

There really is no comparison there.

It's funny how in this situation, it's largely a matter of preference between depth of resume and quality of single wins. Here, the single wins seem to matter for many hardcore Floyd fans, but in the famous Morales-Mayweather poll, it was all about a string of very good wins supposedly outweighting two wins over two prime All Time Greats.

Many felt that fight could have been a draw. At best it was a close but clear victory over a fat Winky Wright fighting at the highest Weight class he has ever been at. Any Winky Wright fan would tell you he looked sluggish and slow on the night. And still it was a close fight, and in no way a "schooling"

History will remember Floyd Mayweather as the greatest of his generation. Given that Hopkins still couldnt sell out a Denny's outside of hardcore fans he'll be lucky if he's remembered at all.

Btw, list Hopkins top 5 victories and explain to me why they are better then mayweathers top 5 victories.

There's never been soo much butt hurt in a single thread, ofcourse I had voted Morales even though I believed Floyd was greater ATG (voting against Morales would be blasphemy at the end of the day) but then when it hit like 800 votes and it was evenly split it all of a sudden turned into another Pacquiao/Mayweather thread with lots of people getting all emotional

Mayweather began his career at 130

Juan Manuel Marquez began his career at 126

Bernard Hopkins began his career at 160, will finish his career at 175

Felix Trinidad's began his career at 147, prime ended at 160

Juan Manuel Marquez best performance of 147 was being robbed of a career defining victory over Manny Pacquiao, who was a the time Welterweight champ, and P4P number 1 in the world.

Felix Trinidad's best performance at Middleweight was William Joppy who was never nothing but an average middleweight at best.

!46? Instead of 144? Stop the ****ing presses. 2lbs! Holy ****. 2lbs.

Hopkins resume is so deep its unreal: undefeated glen Johnson, Mercado, distance with super prime Roy, beating Tito, beating Tarver going up two weight classes, beating Pavlik, beating Winky, beating Pascal. fighting Calzaghe to a close fight that could have gone either way.

No one in Floyd's resume is that great (common opponent Oscar stands out) after 135 lbs. Ortiz only had ONE TITLE FIGHT before fighting Floyd. ONE TITLE FIGHT. Marquez was a good win, but that style was an easy one for Floyd. Corrales, Genaro hernandez, Castillo, Angel Manfredy, Jesus Chavez, Carlos Hernandez, Zab Judah (joke), Demarcus Corley, and Ortiz do not have the same luster as undefeated Pavlik, dominant Tarver, young Pascal, Roy Jones in a non-domination, beat down of Tito, close fight with Cal, and stepping up to Dawson at least in signing the contract.
