I honestly couldn't be bothered to read it all. Everything in Boxing is connected with something, a jab isn't only made up of the arm, the final product is outputted from the arm.

    Maybe your jab...

All three of those quotes say it's 'mostly' an arm punch. I can generate a good deal more snap into the punch when I incorporate my shoulder (before and after the punch), drop my weight into it, take a step forward or diagonally, give a quick hip movement, etc. Not to mention times where I lunge into the punch off my back foot.

Can you throw a jab just with your arm? Sure. But why? More often than not you'll be taking some sort of step to get more power into the punch and/or get into position to follow up. The jab is a setup punch and often a way to steal points (after a combination, for example.). Footwork in order to be in position to punch at all times is critical, which is why me and a lot of other boxers spend rounds working exclusively on ring movement, footwork, and the jab.

Also, it speaks volumes that you turn to a google search to learn about a punch. Most of us just go off experience since we, you know, actually box or have boxed.

PS golden gloves going on right now, you enter this year?

there's alot more to foot work then the basics of balance and moving, the basic jab is nothing but an arm punch, you can do all kinds of stuff when you have foot work, but right now the dude can more then stop moving his right shoulder when he jabs, with out an ounce of footwork.

the absolute most ill give you is that it might be easier to not move his right shoulder when jabbing with the correct foot work and balance, but it is not essential that he knows foot work before the advice i gave him is useful.

plus look at all that info on that jab you just provided.

Calm down, junior. We all start somewhere, no I did NOT know I was supposed to move around the heavy bag because I started heavy bag training in the boatswain's hold of a guided missile destroyer and I had never done any serious boxing training until I joined a gym.

Second of all, if you want to stay in place in Jab, I'll step to the side because you decided to plant and spear you in the jaw. I'm not holding on to anyone's nuts. I've seen the videos you post and instead of admitting you don't know what you're doing, you get butthurt like an awkward kid who claims aspergers because you're socially stunted when people say you wing your punches, lean into things, and spin around throwing jabs like that's a realistic interpretation of what shadowboxing is. And then when BrownBomber challenges your credentials because he has fought, been ranked, and actually might know what he's talking about, you change the subject and say you ran a marathon like it changes the fact that you have no idea what the **** you're doing when it comes to boxing. So do yourself a favor and shut the **** up when grown folks are talking.

boxing since 12 (i believe maybe even earlier) and look at what hes done, hes a coach and a pro boxer, that hasnt done anything incredible as a pro.

its called making a point, and that point is, if thats what you want to do with your life, bb's got some great advice, if you want to be something more, listen to every body and then listen to yourself.

there is no need for him to shoot down my advice simply out of a long lived internal resentment.

there are several post of people giving advice on how the kid should punch

wheres BB's "USELESS POST" ? but god forgive i give advice on punch.....and its actaully decent adivce but that just makes his resentment even stronger.

i was saying that not everybody goes to school gets a degree in what they like and then goes on to make a living in a field they enjoy.

being successful in life is an equally great accomplishment.

    THIS right here

dont listen to me and every time you jab make sure you wind up like your throwing a base ball.

maybe i should just start saying the oppsite of what i really want to say, that way when you correct me i can agree with you.
