If Antonio Tarver Retired Tomorrow...

    How would he be remembered as a fighter? Where will he have positioned himself with his legacy? How will he be remember as a light-heavyweight in the grand scheme of a stacked division? What are your thoughts on his career thus far?

    I'd love to write out my own thoughts on Tarver but I'm off for a shower and to prep myself for tomorrow. Would be nice to see the responses...serious and not so serious. I'll quickly say, I think he's established a legacy almost on par with the much more popular fighter of his era, Miguel Cotto.

    Man this thread is about Antonio Tarver not Mason "The Line" Dixon. Dixon is heavyweight champion, Tarver is currently beating top calibre opposition like Danny "The Green Machine" Green.

    Antonio Tarver was a top class amatuer Boxer, and has had a very good pro career. I expect to see him in the hall of fame one day.

    I think this is what he'll always be remembered for. That and the fact that he was the first person to even come close to besting him (apart from the griffin dq). Id like to see him take on some top level fighters in the cruiserweight division first though. Looked brilliant against Green and I think if he took on Huck he'd have a great chance of winning. I feel Lebedev and Hernandez beat him quite comfortably though. Great fighter and a potential HOFer

    He'll be mainly remembered for ending RJJ's reign of dominance.

    Overall he was solid. Terrific amateur, as a pro he was nothing special, but a good fighter. He beat a good list of guys who were top ranked light-heavyweights at the time, but it often took him two tries.

    The Hopkins loss was bad though. He didn't just lose, he got completely dominated and embarrassed.
