    Apostoli, Apostoli, Apostoli...Not to disparage the tough and earnest Gene Fullmer, Fred Apostoli came from a great Middleweight generation that produced such 160 pounders as Freddie Steele, Tony Zale, Ken Overlin, Al Hostak, Marcel Thil, Georgie Abrams, Solly Krieger, Teddy Yarosz, Billy Soose, BILLY CONN [yes a great MW] etc who all I believe would have beat Gene Fullmer, and Fred Apostoli was one of the very best...Apostoli in his primes was much superior to Gene Fullmer...

    Apostoli would beat him for the same reason Eduardo Lausse beat him--superior firepower. Fullmer is outgunned here. He carries pistols while Apostoli carries a bazooka that reloads very quickly. He'd get roughed up but he's durable enough to withstand Fullmer's best. Fred's best is enough to slow Fullmer down.

    Fullmer is standing at the final bell, but he is beaten.
