Which Style of Boxing Got You Into Boxing, and is it Still Your Favorite Style?

Barrera.. Marquez...

I emulated them in my teens in amateurs and boxing gym.
Love their style Barrera when I was younger Marquez soon after that.

 

Sugar Ray Robinson, Floyd Patterson's style drew me in. Ali and Sugar Ray Leonard kept me there. I do however like the Boxer, Puncher style the best.

 

Luisito Espinosa.

Watching Manny Pacquiao on Blow by blow (Philippines) in 1996 (was 13 yo then), thinking he's the next Espinosa.

As a Puerto Rican I grew up following boxing since I just naturally supported the islands fighters. Trinidad is where the love/passion grew. Erik Morales vs Marco Antonio Barrera locked me into the sport. Till this day I nut hug the **** out of Trinidad and Morales. Amazing fighters.

 

Always loved the puncher/slugger/brawler/swarmer types. Who dont care about scorecards and just go in there to knock people...Dempsey,Marciano,Basilio,Lamotta, Patterson,Liston,Fraizer, Foreman,DURAN,hagler,JCC, Tyson

 

Technically proficient, but not afraid to mix it up when the need arises is my favorite style. JMM is a perfect example.

Agree. As a kid, Larry Homes was the man to me...that silky smooth jab and could appear aggressive as he boxing off of the back foot...that's a rare quality. He could also square up and go toe-to-toe and make the match all about manliness.

Hagler also fits the bill.

They don't make em like that anymore.

My faves as a kid were a weird range....pernell, holyfield, tapia and rjj

 

Julio C. Chavez Sr.'s style impressed me the most. He's the real brawler and warrior.

 

Carl Froch, and still the best style
