He was an utterly awesome athlete, but there were many top LHWs of all time that would've shattered his jelly jaw into smithereens.

When he finally stopped fighting cops and part time sanitation workers he got his azz handed to him in a body bag.

Roid cherrypicked for three quarters of his career. That is why so many of you delusional fanboys cannot pry yourself from his balls, because he looked like an unbeatable "superman" when he was punching out blown-up and shot 135ers, off-duty police officers, sanitation workers, and a myriad of various other bums. He ducked the biggest fights, never beat a lineal, unified, or undisputed champ, cherrypicked vacant or worthless trinket belts, and was never unquestionably "the man" in any division he fought in.

As one of the most ******ed Royboys on this forum, you have no room to talk about any fighter being a cherrypicker because Glass Jaw Roy epitomizes the term.

Just like Tyson, RJJ made his name feasting on over-matched nobodies. Then when they faced Elite fighters they were quickly exposed as being very beatable.

Jones was amazing no doubt, pity the steroids throw a cloud over his achievements, same with Evander.

Yeah, people cant get past his personality or his music video, but he was a totally unique monster in his prime.

I haven't seen any film of anybody from the current or past that are on his level in terms of reflexes and speed and angle manipulation as a combination (Prime). I became a fan of his early, I remember catching him on thursday or friday night fights as a kid and thinking to myself, I hadn't ever seen anyone do this sort **** before. He was breaking all kinds of rules but he was so quick and fast he was able to pull off these incredible lunging shots, the angles, the power, the novelty. I don't know what the specifics are on his drug abuse but I watched quite a few skilled fighters in their primes..

I don't think many fighters come close to the sort of tools Jones had in his prime. Most guys had trouble blocking his well timed lunging shots let alone even attempt to counter them, I think it gives us an idea of just how quick and fast he was. Guy was a ****ing blur.

Kinda hard to not appreciate to appreciate Roy as a fighter!:good

the one thing i will always give roy jones massive credit for were his performances in the olympics in 88. as a huge ray leonard fan and watching ray in the final stages of his career, jones was like watching the re-birth of leonard in seoul. roys performances were outstanding, so I always watched out for roy from that moment on.
