Did Ortiz QUIT during his fight with Floyd?

He was not having any success,unless you count Floyd being on the ropes,he could not hit him and got frustrated to the point he needed to break Floyd's nose with his head..

I thought he could have gotten up before the 10 count, but it didn't look like he'd be in condition to continue taking shots from Floyd... Probably best he stayed down. Once the headbutts and hugs started, he lost his head in the ring..

 

It looked worse.It looked like he threw the fight.

Floyd has enough money to pay him to lose.

I dont think Floyd is the type who would arrange for another fighter to throw the fight but the fight looked fixed.

Why was he hugging and hugging? What? They are that good of friends? it looked like he never really wanted to hurt his friend, like two brothers fighting and the little brother deciding to just stay down.

Exactly. What ****ing fight were these guys watching in which Ortreez was having so much "success"? He was completely befuddled by Mayweather's defense and frustrated to the point where he tried to foul repeatedly (he clearly tried to butt Floyd at least twice before landing the one that he was deducted a point for).

To answer the thread question, yes, I do think he quit as soon as he resorted to fouling. Could he have gotten up? Maybe, but he had already lost the fight and mentally quit before Floyd even landed that combo.

 

I think he could have gotten up from that. Especially considering his performance against Berto.

I felt he eventually, right after that 8 punch unanswered combo, knew he was in WAY over his head and exited stage left. I can't call the man any names because he absorbed a lot of punishment in that fight and wasn't able to land much in return. The outcome of that fight was written in stone.

So he "quit", but not really.

 

Its a different story when you get hit unexpectedly ..

 

I think its a situation where he was overwhlemed in the ring acted like an idiot and wasn't really thinking, got knocked down and still not really conciously thinking kinda decided to stay down. It's like mugging someone without a gun, a lot of times people just kinda freeze and play the role of the victim and afterwards think **** I could have done this or that. it looked to me like he got beat up when he was down as opposed to knocked out. or maybe he just didn't think a guy as young as him deserved to get punched like that.
