    nice thread.

    2 things i disagree with....

    1. floyd will not pressure cotto.

it's not what he does. he may attempt to back him up from time to time but pressure is not something floyd does. he's a master counterpuncher who likes to use ur aggression against u. make u miss...and make u pay. that is his game.

    2. floyd does not lose balance when he throws that big right hand.

he falls in with it to keep u from countering. bhop does a similar thing and usually follows it by pulling/pushing down on ur head or neck.

    some things to consider....

cotto definitely has a very big bag of tricks. not as big as floyds....but definitely bigger than what floyd has seen in quite some time. cotto can lead....he can counter....he can fight going forward and backwards. he's pretty solid with both hands and he can fight from both the orthodox and southpaw stance.

with all of that being said....i think it would be very interesting to see cotto give floyd some movement and force floyd to come forward, because like one of the other posters in this thread said...that takes him out of what he normally does and makes floyd vulnerable. it would be foolish for floyd to try and pressure cotto, who i believe is a much bigger puncher than he is getting credit for.

cotto has dropped or stopped all 3 of his opponents at 154. sure, he was a bigger puncher at 140...but he also had some pretty decent stoppages at 147. i believe cotto is probably the biggest puncher mayweather has faced in years. he also is a pretty good body puncher. when was the last time we saw anyone go to floyds body?

    keys to victory for cotto:

-do not fall into a pattern

    -establish jab early and often

-do not load up on anything (he is most vulnerable when he's throwing big wide hooks)

-counter the counters and get out the way

    -keep the punches in bunches

    -work the angles

-punch him where ever u can/don't look for the clean shot (it'll never come)

    -stay off that front foot

-keep floyd guessing by mixing it all up (feints, combinations, body/head etc)

    other things to consider....

cotto has a perfect record against undefeated fighters.

mayweather retired and acted as if cotto wasn't a worthy opponent when i believe the opposite to be true.

cotto has problems with pressure fighters/volume punchers. floyd is neither.

floyd is talking a lot less in the build up to this fight. i get the feeling there is massive respect on his side.

Cotto should be ready to lead his combinations with the straight right and follow it with a left hook to the hips / head. That would be a good start. He´s a leftie fighting in a right handed stance, so the first punch won´t pack a mean punch. His left hook is lethal, but he´s not hitting Floyd with that punch off the jab or leading with it.

work on his jab in training and double jab and throwing the right to the body when Floyd is moving to the ropes, and working the body when Floyd lies on the ropes. Either way it is a bad matchup for Cotto now. He might get swelled up again. But he needs to fight busy but not reckless and double his jab while working to the body and in later rounds go to the head more.

You're spot on, Floyd's thought proccess seems natrual, fluid and instinctive; where as Cotto's can seem a little bit forced at times.
