Yes I like the upset theory. If Tommy boxed smart he could pull it off. No fear from either of these guys. The Foreman Lyle staredown always stuck with me. Power edge? They both fought Foreman at different times. Georges chin Might have been stronger in his comeback. Tommys hook didnt move big George like cooneys, and Lyle knocked him down in the seventies. Lyles right hand vs. Tommys hook?
Lyle had somewhat underrated boxing skills. He was a better boxer than both Ruddock and Mercer. The sharp Lyle of 1972-77 dispatches the Duke in a crowd-pleasing barnburner of a fight. Lyle KO 5
The big difference here is durability. Lyle had the chin to remain on his feet if he absorbed a solid bomb from Morrison. Sure, Lyle might be seriously hurt, maybe even floored, but he could recuperate. By contrast, Morrison would be KO'd by any of Lyle's flush rights or left-hooks to the head. Tommy just didn't take a big punch very well, and that could spell disaster against a powerpuncher like Lyle.
Morison's biggest problem was his stamina , not his chin . It took Lewis time 2 get rid of him and Ruddock was ridden by him in contrast 2 Lyle being stopped by Ali . Morison's chin was much better than u give him credit 4 while Lyle's was less than given credit 4 . If Lyle could not impress vs Quarry y should he impress vs Morison ? Quarry's biggest and probably only advantage over Morison was better stamina .
So says d myth , i know . Maybe it's even correct , but even if so , not by much 4 sure . c , Quarry didn't fight Lennox Lewis , Donovan Ruddock , Ray Mercer and luckily 4 him not George Foreman . And while d Foreman Morison fought was partially disabled , he was still younger than d Foreman who KOd Michael Moorer . Quarry was KOd by Chuvalo , badly hurt by Ali & Frazier and KDd by Patterson . Wasn't he KDd by Ellis as well ? and KOd by Norton as well .
