I think you have to at least consider Brook at Saul Alvarez level right now

    Both have fought simmilar opposition and had simmilar results, except Brook has done it as a wleterweight where Alvarez has done it as a light middle against Welterweights.

    In the USA and The Ring Magazine in particular rate Alvarez as one of boxing brightist prospects and a possible face of the sport.

    I would call that taking things too far for brook OR Alvarez, but imo Brook is a top prospect now, haters gonna hate about his power, but it aint all about power.

    Pretty similar. Think Brook did a slightly better job than Alvarez on Hatton but that ain't everything, Alvarez's more skilled (than Hatton) aggression is probably the sort of style to trouble Kell in an actual fight between the two.

    Neither have fought a true world class opponent yet IMO.

    I remembered after Alvarez beat Hatton reading comments such as "He did what he needed to do, the kid is class, it was all hatton could do to survive"

    Already, after Brook, an actual welterweight does the same thing it's "his lack of power will show him up" etc.

    Brook has good power. Shook N'dou and Hatton up pretty well without being that close to a stoppage, both have very good beards.

    Against the likes of Berto, Ortiz etc he definitely has the power to do damage. He's not a real power puncher but he's fast enough, accurate enough to stop people.

    He doesn't have killer instinct though, he only really stepped it up on a couple of occasions tonight.

    He's the type that will drop people but without hurting them a huge amount.

    I agree he seems to like hurting people then stepping back and stalking them rather than jumping on it and finishing the fight. When he does try and finish he gets too close and smoothers his work when he should step back and let his long accurate shots go when there are openings.

    i agree, its just a matter of exposure across the pond is sadly where it seems to all matter, if your not under an American promotional banner then you must take the long route, Its easier for those boxers over there to be noticed and get acclaim. Brook did better than Alvarez against hatton, but hypocritical excuses will fly high

    I think Kells power is decent, its his accuracy that makes it, speed accuracy and good power and accumulation is gonna be hard to beat.

    He seemed to be more considerate & patient than normal tonight, I dont think he is a natural finisher. He has the tools but not the craft, his feet often let him down when he's trying to unload.

    Maybe once he finally has to face adversity in a tough fight we might see a little more aggression

    I dont tbh Alvarez would be far to strong and more economical with his work for me.

    Looked impressive at times, similar performance to Saul. Still needs a couple of defeat gatekeepers yet to match the ginger's record.

    Being a "natural finisher" or "agressive" isn't the be all and end all.

    Wladamir Klitschko, Floyd Mayweather, Bernard Hopkins, Andre Ward, Joe Calzaghe are all recent examples of guys who were they just starting out now we'd probably be saying "they wont go no-where, they aint agressive enough"

    Well in his case it's a little different, but he had no pop. none. when he was at his most succesful, against Lacy who was a monster puncher, he beat him by way of slow ****.

    It just annoys me when either lack of power or agression is automatically quoted as a reason a fighter won't reach the top, but then again punchers are always hyped.
