What a snoozefest. The guy would get murdered @ SMW. And Mayweather would destroy him @ 154. I guess he just stays @ 160 and continues to bore us to death with his hands hanging down at his thighs for the rest of his fights. He is not a great fighter by any means. Not elite.
Sergio is not an elite fighter and isn't a top P4P fighter, period. How anyone can put him over Andre Ward, Gamboa, Tim Bradley, and etc. is ridiculous.
He's nothing special. HBO tries to hype him up, but it's been painfully obvious from the get-go that he's nothing more than a good/decent fighter with nice athletic qualities who is thriving (now struggling) with a sub-par era.
Just started watching boxing? He's won his last 4 fights by stoppage. How many fights have Floyd been in when people not only were booing but left early cause of his defensive style? Please just stop watching boxing. You clearly don't know what it is.
Bit harsh. He likes to counter people coming in, so naturally, he's not gonna' look that spectacular when guys like Barker and Macklin take a cautious approach with him. But despite that, he still managed to get use to his man and dominate those latter rounds. Brilliant knockout/stoppage.
Brian Vera would give Martinez problems, his style is all wrong from a guy who walks around with his hands down. I agree, Andy Lee would KO his ass.
Lee destroyed Vera in the rematch. Martinez showed that he has a problem with jabs from Darren Barker, Lee has the best jab in the division and also has massive height and reach advantage over Martinez and has pretty fast hands as well, with Martinez's hands down style I seriously think that Lee would just pick him off on the outside all night.
the man has an off night and the so called experts are suddenly bashing him. this has got to be the worst place ever.
Not really, was a close fight, wouldn't call that destruction. The thing is that he was supposed to blow away Darren and Macklin and they showed that Martinez just isn't all that.
Aside from the very end, did you find that to be an entertaining performance from Sergio? It was underwhelming as could be.
