Sergio isn't a big MW.... He may feel he's too small for Ward. Who are we to knock him? Why are you Floyd fans mad that Sergio is looking to cash in on Pac or Floyd like everyone else in boxing? It's a good fight. So is Ward vs Martinez but Sergio is looking at the bigger financial picture that doesn't include Ward.

Ward is a fantastic fighter, why would I be scared of him? Im not going to be fighting him.. Sergio is not a true MW, so why would he go up to 168? makes no sense... Sergio has said he could go back to 154... hell, he said he'd go down to 150! :deal Does Void want a piece of him? I doubt it seriously! :hat

actually i have no problem with him fighting martinez. its u pacfags dickriding sergio and scared of him fighting Ward. thats what the subject of this thread is. u guys know Sergio is your ONLY HOPE . pac is thru.

its funny how pacfags ignore how sergio has called out Pac but got the nerve to say floyds ducking. why dont u guys just admit that pac stands no chance against sergio AND floyd? just admit, and we can leave this subject alone :yep

Floyd could have made 144 easily. He weighed 149 pounds 30 days before the Ortiz fight. Morales was still above 150 30 days before his fight and he's the same age as Floyd.

Floyd can make 140 if he really wanted to

Martinez could take guys on at a higher weight, but he would have to come in at 157 to be most effective.

If he came in any higher, he would be carrying nothing but excess bodyweight that would significantly decrease his speed and not do a thing for his power.

He would be outweighted by 20 or 30 lbs on fight night.

I think it's reasonable to say Floyd and Martinez could fight because I think it's obvious that they've both matured around the same weightclass.

You can't expect Martinez to jump up as many weightclasses as Pac and Floyd when he started boxing in his twenties, and went from 147 to 160 already.

How high do you expect him to go?

If he does decide to go up in weight, he needs to concentrate on fighting bigger guys, and Andy Lee is a good style and size for him to match up against before taking on the likes of Ward.

I don't think he should go up, but I also don't think he should be calling out Floyd because Floyd has a very dangerous fight against Cotto coming up.

There are fights to be made in and around 154 and 160.

Why have him go up to a weightclass against Bute and Ward who will likely finish their careers at either light heavyweight or crusierweight?

If Sergio can go up to 168 as a 154 lb fighter, Floyd should be go up to 160 as a 147 lb fighter.

Floyd has fought at 154 several times and is fighting Cotto at 154.

The best fight to be made at 154, where both fighters will be fresh and healthy and at the peak of their powers.

Why does Floyd get a pass, when Pac and Martinez don't?

Fliyd is a natural welter. He could make Jr welter if he really wanted to but I don't think he would be at his best physically if he worked down to 140. Fliyd has really filled out after hitting hid mid 30s.

Floyd is a grown man now. 140 is too small unless Floyd wants to walk around, looking like a skeleton.

That's not going to happen. Obviously Floyd is comfortable at 154 because this is his second fight there.

Many people think that Ortiz quit. If Ortiz did in fact quit, it's because Mayweather's punches were hurting him, which means that Mayweather has the power to stay at 154.

The best fight to be made at that weightclass is Martinez vs Floyd.

However, Floyd has Cotto in front of him right now, and should concentrate at the task at hand.

Floyd is fighting Cotto @ 154... Maravilla wants to fight Floyd so bad that he's willing to drain himself to 150! What does that tell you? He will do whatever it takes to fight Floyd... Your man has no excuses! NONE..

Good post.... I think Floyd is comfortable against the right opponents at 154... But think he will have another fight at Jr MW before facing someone like Sergio at 154. Fliyd will take calculated risks if he's facing someone he feels is a threat.

I would... I don't think at 150 Sergio is really drained. He would still be dangerous and bigger on fight night. Floyd would still be the smaller man and that would give credibility should Fliyd win. Ideally 154 would be the best fight....but I wouldn't blame Floyd. Sergio is a risk.

Brandon Rios is almost as big as Floyd and he's a damn lightweight. Floyd isn't a natural WW. He's just a small welterweight who happens to be relatively strong and very skilled. Floyd wouldn't be no skeleton at 140. One of Floyd's people said that they have to limit the amount of running his does because he gets too small sometimes the weeks before a fight.

And Floyd's comfortable at 154 because he just a really good fighter. not because of his size.

Also Morales is a grown man too (he's 35), but he weighs more than Floyd and is fighting at 140
