86-87 Tyson wouldn't fear Lewis for sure. But he knew he was shot in 2002. When you miss a left hook on Lewis' bodyguard, how do you expect to do against Lennox himself? I think Lewis was a little spooked by Tyson's nutty behavior but I think Tyson was beyond terrified and trying to convince himself of what he would do to Lewis. Knocking his brain out of his skull? Eating his children? Breaking his ribs? Taking his virginity? Raping a journalist in his ass in front of everybody? Stomping people's testicles? Tyson appeared to be out of his mind. This wasn't trash talking; this was insanity.
Nah that was mike being mike. You obviously havent seen what he said to ruddock. The journalist asked for it and id have done the same thing. Tyson knew he was finished, the abuse was his sort of last trick out of his hat, the intimidation technique, but it didnt work [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zOgr2dppDCY[/ame] watch ruddock lick his lips afterwards i love this one [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W7qrk71vgIY[/ame] [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C_trSpg99yc&feature=related[/ame] [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WFv1zJEAD_E[/ame]
Terrible fight. Tyson couldnt land one shot of significance. Coming in at 234 lbs..:nono That had a lot to do with Lewis, dont get me wrong. Lennox is absolutely massive. Combined with the skills and power he had, he could beat any Heavyweight champion in history. I'm not a "Prime Tyson" clown, but christ even the '96 version wouldve tested his chin a few times. The fight just wasnt in good taste. Lennox could rate higher without Mike on his resume. But that was ugly.
Tyson never feared anyone. I believe Lewis feared Tyson. I mean Tyson was a prodigy. Lewis wanted no part of Prime Tyson, and Lewis wasnt ready for him. Their timelines were so different for a prime for prime. Tyson had the Power, speed, defense, and chin to beat Lewis. But Tyson never feared or respected his opponents ability or power. As far as Tysons antics how can you not be freaked if youre the other guy.
Exactly. Although he looked cut and ripped for the fight, he had no endurance and didn't have his heart into the fight. The Tyson who fought Holyfield the first time would have made a much more signifcant challenge for Lewis.
Comparatively speaking, I thought it looked as though he was holding a lot of water weight for the Lewis fight. Extracellular at that, the bad kind. I've never figured Mike to be a user, but it looked like he'd just ran a 6 week of Dianabol only. No doubt, the extra weight caused the ACL to rip against Williams. It was just so pathetic and sad to see him get beat up like that and take wild lunges at an enormous target he couldn't land on. A lot of people enjoyed it for their own reasons. I didnt.
It was canny mad Mini Mike even made to being @234lbs - cos he entered training camp in hot Hawai at a MASSIVE 280/300LBS! What a BEAST. They must of had a bloody good gym or sauna in Hawai for Tinkerbell to use!! :deal
I think common sense would indicate that Tyson was afraid of Lennox Lewis. If you think you can beat someone why would you need to bite him? Answer.....because you know you ran your mouth and talked yourself into an asswhipping. Tyson wanted out of that fight and biting Lewis at the press conference was his way out. It didnt work and Mike went in and faced his fear like a man for once and took a his beating.
he shat himself in the fight too, and it is quite visable. he did find confidence however, when he found he was able to stay him off and land. I said it that night, and I still maintain, Tyson was "sedated" in that fight, it wasn't him at all, he barely through anything. People shortly afterwards commented and looked into Tysons "MEDS" at the time. LL was indeed lucky, because Tyson would have neutralized him with not much more than it took too nullify others!
I never understood the Tyson as a quitter thing. Usually he was rescued by the referee from more punishment, bloody and and borderline unconscious.
