I know I know who the **** listens to him, he exposed himself in the past, he's annoying, he's biased yadda yadda... but if someone is telling it how it is, it's how it is, and Dwyer breaks down the Martinez-Macklin fight and the bias behind HBO so accurately that I'm beginning to believe he takes notes of my posts here.

If you have better things to do, don't watch it, but I agree with this particular video 100%, so I thought it's worth sharing over typing down the same things over and over again

Enjoying the video. Thanks for sharing.

He made a great point about counter-punchers starting off slowly... trying to figure out their opponents.

I can barely listen to 2 minutes of Dwyer. Never mind 20. Think I'll give it a miss.

lmfao @ him calling Victor Ortiz "the reigning welterweight champion" and Sergio Martinez being #2 p4p. This dude is clearly off his ****ing rocker.

See, that's why I've never bothered listening to his stuff. He's in no position to be ripping HBO when he himself is biased/deluded as ****.

I always enjoy Dwyers commentary as oppose to his fight predictions. I liked a lot of what he said in this video. I have always been a fan of Merchant but his bias and agenda in this fight were undeniable. Was really sad to see ... Martinez looked incredible to me. So much right about that performance and he got barely any credit. Oh well

He said he picks Vitali Klitschko to beat Briggs but straddle it with a Briggs KO. Some people seem jealous of Dwyer for some reason on here

It's his striking good looks that really get my goat.

Dwyer says some things that make you scratch your head at times. However, that doesn't mean everything he says is wrong. I didn't like the job HBO did in that Martinez fight. Macklin is certainly not elite, and you wouldn't expect him to be competitive with Martinez. With that being said, they were completely underrating Martinez in that fight. Macklin was having some success, but at no point did it seem Martinez had lost control of the fight. Dwyer's point about Merchant ripping Martinez for not throwing combos I thought was dead on as well. Martinez was deadly accurate with his single shots, and was breaking Macklin down. You could tell that Macklin wasn't prepared for many of those shots. Why does a guy need to throw combos if he's constantly landing, hard, accurate shots one at a time?

I don't often agree with Dwyer, but he's right in this case. I thought it was a VERY good performance by Martinez, even in the rounds where he was losing, and all I heard was how horribly he was doing by the team. It was distracting, annoying and disrespectful to BOTH fighters, who are world class opponents fighting a world class fight.

I've long believed that Merchant is not a fan of boxing; he's a fan of violence. Unless he sees it, he's unimpressed. Can you imagine him commentating on Ali fights?

I don't hate Dwyer but I can't get past the first few minutes without scratching my head. Merchant didn't say anything offensive in the ring that night. "What do you say to people that thought it was cheap?" Valid question, no doubt it was controversial, Merchant accepts the answer and moves on. Then, he asks about the fight, and before they can talk boxing beyond reviewing the knockout, Mayweather randomly goes "You don't ever give me a fair shake."

The commentators may have been harsh on Martinez, but that's expected considering the aura of invincibility he used to have, and questions of age start to surface. The one time I've heard overt bias for Pacquiao was during Marquez-Pacquiao 3, and that can't be denied. But the industry isn't against Martinez, when yesterday Kellerman and Lampley were calling him a super-fighter.

I honestly think the funniest thing about that commentary for Macklin/Martinez was how ambivalent they were towards the whole thing just because Martinez wasn't beating the **** out of Macklin from the get go.

Say what you will about Macklin, but technically that guy should be a MW champion but was robbed in Germany. Martinez at no point was getting mandhandled, dominated, or even hit too many times.

    THEN

Just because Sergio wants to fight with his hands down is being unfairly compared to Roy Jones when the two couldn't be anymore different in style.

    And

throughout the entire fight they were talking **** about Martinez, the knockout happens, and all of a sudden "whata great performance by Sergio. He just started systematically breaking him down and finishing him off. Just amazing"

    Lampley and Merchant are ridiculous.

I thought Lampley did a good job stearing the conversation back to the fight whenever Merchant was going on one of his rants, Lampley was trying to put out the fire not fuel it. I actually didn't even mind Merchant at certain points, there were times when he was questioning the odds, not the fighter. But what did it for me was the post fight interview, that was uncalled for. The guy just won a MW championship bout, give Sergio a break FFS. I hate when the winner of the fight gets roasted more then the loser, that doesn't make much sense to me.
