We'll see... We'll see! :hi: No way that any American who has even a speck of love for his country, Respect for the constitution, or regard for PERSONAL FREEDOM could ever get used to this guy. My favorite would have been Paul Ryan... but We'll see.
Matthew did a great job, (I had visions of him being stopped around the third round!) I always rooted for him, but thought he was rated a bit to high TBH...But his stock went up after Sat. night. Martinez is a cut above though, I just don't think Mack has enough power to beat him. Hopefully he works on his endurance a bit, then fights Barker...After beating him:good He gets a re-match with Sturm in the Garden. I liked McGirt for stopping it...He's been in their himself! Would LOVE to see Lee/ Martinez!!
I hope to be there, just let the TBA to be decent, not To Be Annihilated. We wont be raped twice you know but if most of the guys have to step up to win at home, there is IMO a repeatable market out there.
Did any of these lads making their pro debuts on the Roscommon card have any significant amateur titles or careers? Cant say ive heard of much on any of them tbh.
As said reynolds won a lot of senior crowns and was one of our best heavyweights probably ever but he must be a good age now,Mike Waldron is the brother of John waldron havent heard of him doing a lot as an amateur though,Peake i only know cause his name pops up on the iaba website a bit again no title there i dont think and i dont know Finaton glynn,Looks like a localised show but ill probably head alond anyway, the 4 we know waldron, cruise donnellan and mc mahon are usually involved in good scraps one way or the other, As to the opponents i wouldnt be expecting too much at all (in fact id be surprised if they werent all shocking)but as long as they get durable guys that will go a few rounds how bad.Got to be worth a look at this stage of things.
Reynolds will be a massive ticket seller. I tried to getting his younger brother Alan to join Maloneys HW Factor last year but it never worked out. If I'd have known Stephen was interested in turning pro I'd have done something about it. He hasn't got many miles left on the clock and I know that you would face Timsy in his first fight so expect him to be moved fast.
he said he would, but if they get him a ham that can take a beating for 4 rounds we should have some fun alright.Cant recall another pro from sligo, open to contradiction there, If this one works out (and i sincerely hope it does) a second show in sligo might be the way to go.
He really was a great amateur champion. Of the Bernard Dunne, Michael Roche, etc. era. He seemed to win senior titles at ease for a number of years, a lot more convincingly that say his brother Alan who lost in a few finals along with his wins. Stephen won 5 in a row from 1997-2001. He seemed to retire then - over a decade ago!! So I'm genuinely shocked that he's turning pro. I wouldn't be as surprised if his brother did. Alan must have only stopped boxing 2or3 years ago. Stephen seemed to have become a good coach of late - doing well with Ballinacarrow B.C. by the looks of it
After the Chemistry Cuo not a lot has changed At 49 Paddy Barnes is still on track while Touba must enter the equation but it's not in Germany this time. Alexandrov from Bulgaria is a late prospect too. 52 sees Oubaali still trying to qualify, Beblic, Ivanov and Riscan will fancy it too. 56 has Makarov a big fancy as is Gojan. Both very experienced and Sweden, Ukraine and Azerbaijan have picks to make as have Turkey, whose Topcakan I think can make it. 60 sees little change unless the GB go with Maxwell instead of Ward. 64 looks ready for the Russian young sensation Zaytsev unless Harutyunyan the new German can improve very quickly. Nolan will have the German pick to beat(Wojcicki their champion or Marutyan who beat Nolan in Halle) as his chief opponent assuming Bascai is the favourite. 75 sees only one place and if Russia select Kopkytakov he should take it. 81 is all about Ward, only a madman would bet against him pivking up one of the three places but Ville Hukkanen might surprise some. Is he our Znaak, if so good luck. 91 hasn't changed but at 91+ Kuzmin may have pushed himself back into the top Russian position and Nistor has leapfrogged Sheehan who however had a heavy flu in Germany.
