this is true, though if he had the Bhop wouldnt have gassed in 2002 and decision him, so I can understand why he didnt pursue it further.

yes they were both reaching. Cal was reaching because he was being outboxed, Bernard because he was outgassed.

Now you are reaching. JC tried to get it on, Hopkins got greedy or prized himself out. And Joe is a scared cherrypicker for not trying harder?

Hopkins had good moments. But for the bigger parts, it was a mess. Lots of grappling and weak inside shots by both fighters.

no, but it was Joes fight to chase, he was literally a nobody at the time and indeed for several years later, whereas Hopkins was the draw and fast becomnig an ATG. Hopkins very fairly asked for more money.

twas so. It was actually the first time I had seen Joe resort to cheating (apart from his slap cheating that is)

Roy looked fast against part time security guards/mall cops and a 40 year old mccallum I'll give him that.

Maybe if JC was roiding like RJJ was he would have had more power in his punches.

I think both fighters were fantastic and it would have been great to see them fight each other in their prime. The comments about not sure about prime Joe being faster than Roy I am Welsh and in my eyes both were fast as hell. The slapping comments I have seen make me laugh he had 20 knockouts in his first 21 fights or about that I think and he knocked Eubank down which not many people did as he had a good chin, it was only whenb he kept injuring his hands that he started to go for more volume of punches and not as much for power.
Ask Jeff Lacy what it was like to get slapped in the face 1000 times in a fight he was knocked down for the first time in his career in that fight I think,

The long and short of really is can't we just admire two fantastic fighters without arguing over who was the fastest as we will never know just like we will never know who would have won had they both fought in their prime :).

Joe was a big draw in UK, which meant a shitload of PPV-money. He was also a title holder. I would not call that a nobody.

Neither of us can tell for sure, so lets not pretend like it. We dont what the numbers look like in the industry, or the financial implications for this specifik match up. But we know Hopkins changed over night, asking for the double amount. It hardly looks very good.

The slicker cheater won. Thats a card Hopkins had not expected :hey

not sure there is an argument - everyone here agrees RJJ would win in his prime.

jeez its embarrassment even to mention Lacy, hes the slowest chump I ever seen in a SM fight. Any decent fighter would rip him up.

no one even knew who he was in 2002. I am from the UK. Never heard about him until the Lacey fight (2007?).

Cal was quite a clean fighter I reckon except for the slapconning, which is well within the rules as long as you arent using your wrists all the time.
