Would James Kirkland trouble Sergio Martinez?

It's not possible for Sexy Serg to **** anyone, woman or man. Just think about it.

About two years ago id of said he had a chance... But not now...

 

On the match up, IF Kirkland got out of the first few rounds, we COULD have a good fight (no Steward).

I know for a fact, Sergio's unusual, but very effective, power straight left, right hook combo would give Kirkland hell all night, but Kirkland is starting to show that awesome stamina (and a pinch of luck) can help him overcome the glass chin problem.

I think Sergio wins at this point, but would be interested in seeing this match up, especially if Kirkland goes on to win his next couple fights big.

 

I'm gonna need a box of tissues or a towel first...

 

I think the "glass jaw" stuff is blown out of proportion, I think Martinez would win, but I think it'd be by UD.

 

You gents is thinking one way, I always thought that you had to bring ass to get ass. Sergio dont have no iron chin and Kirkland hit harder than Margarito and more regular. Sergios only advantage is his reach and I think Kirkland can adjust to that. Kirkland has a decent jab himself. They must respect Kirkland cause they dont wanna see him at 154 and I dont blame them cause thats like looking at a meatgrinder. Give Kirkland a chance to adjust to 160 and he will be my choice to knock Sergio out.:bbb

 

Kirkland is dangerous to anyone and can ko anyone from 154-160 but his defense sucks and can't take a hit. Martinez will flatten him with a solid counter.

 

i think Kirkland can trouble anyone. his chin is just too damn suspect

 

This would not last a single round.

Martinez has both better boxing skills, power, chin, and speed. Kirkland does not have one single advantage and he has that glass mandible.

This would be so brutal and quick that I hope if it gets made HBO makes it a triple header so we as the fans do not get 13 rounds of action at the most from a typical double header.

 

I think he gets that chin exposed like no other. Sergio would do it worse than Ishida.

I want to see Kirkland fight Williams before he tries Sergio.

 

If Sergio can't get him out of there before his second wind kicks in, Kirkland is going to get him out of there. Sergio seemed to be gassing early in the Maclin fight(maybe weight drained from cutting?) If Kirkland can avoid the big shot, he's got a great chance against Sergio because he fights with his hands down and body exposed.

 

Just if Kirkland was british, haha joking, but yeah I'd have sergio in four or less.

 

To a certain degree, yes. Martinez is what our great friend Dwyer call an adaptive-reactive fighter and can be hit early before he figures you out, and that's bad news vs. JK. But it's tricky because Kirkland is a slow starter too, just from the pressure kind. I don't see a quick KO either way and everybody should just follow the Ishida fight, but some two-way action before Martinez figuring the angles out for the stoppage.

Speed, power, ring intelligence, and chin are all advantages for Sergio in this fight. Size wise, they're about even. Kirkland's chin issues are overblown, but I still give Sergio an advantage here - his knockdowns in recent times have been balance related more than anything (eg: Pavlik fight).

For me, that's too much for Kirkland to overcome. Kirkland is relentless; he has great stamina and conditioning, but he loses to Sergio.
