I'll keep this short and sweet.

Toney overwhelms Kessler with activity, much like Joe did, but James at SMW had more power than Cal imo, so it would most likely be harder for Kessler to go the distance effectively.

It might be competitive first, but as the fight goes on, Toney gets to Mikkel.

    Toney Tko9 Kessler.

    Thoughts???

As much as i hate Toney and believe he is over rated I think Kessler fights in straight lines a lot and Toneys head movement plays a big part in this fight

Toney via a close decision (7-5)

Kessler does go the distance, he's very tough.

I'm not sure Toney swamps him with activity either, I see him being more selective. The key here for me, is that Toney would fight in the pocket, and use his sharp right hand to counter over the top of Kesslers jab, thus taking away the Dane's best wepon. I can see Kessler getting cut, but not stopped. Toney wins a UD, something like 9 rounds to 3.

As a side note, if Toney doesn't turn up in top shape (which he has/had a terrible habbit of doing) then he gets beat. Kessler punches sharp, straight and accurate and if Toney isn't tuned in, he gets hit with enough clean blows to lose the fight by decision. Kessler is under rated these days.

Prime for prime and peak for peak; Toney wins.

I think very highly of him but no chance Kessler wins this fight. Having a jab as your main weapon against James Toney is like thinking a flame thrower is going to help you against the devil. He'll eat that **** for breakfast.

Toney was a league above Kessler.

    :yep

Yea, I was just makin sure I wasn't the only one that thought so. I like Mikkel, and would've like to seen this on play out, even if I feel I already know what the outcome would be.

I do not see a knockout. Kessler's chin is granite and JT's is made of some **** that must've come off a fokin' spaceship. It's one of those that the best Toney should win, and look brilliant for stretches but if you get the top form of Kessler and a **** form of Toney, it could turn well in favour of Kessler. Toney's so unpredictable. I don't see Toney overwhelming Kessler with activity. I can't see where that would come from, but I think he counters this **** out of him. I'm thinking an 8-4/7-3 type decision where Kessler gives a fair account of himself and there are at least a few good exchanges. In the end it would be Kessler's orthodox, straight style, as perfected as it has been, giving Toney nothing but opportunity to shine with his style. The best Toney, that is.

Toney by a clear, very clear decision. Toney would be wary of Mikkels power, but it should really be the other way around. Toney was very explosive in this division and if Mikkel dared underestimate Toney he'd get dropped even stopped. Toney was much stronger than he looked deceptively powerful. Not sure about outworking Kessler like Joe did, but Toney lands the cleaner punches and schools Kessler for most of the fight. Toney would of figured out Kesslers robotic style wins 8-4 in a worst case scenerio.

Kessler would have to move and use the jab and not fight inside

he also cant foolishly follow Toney to the ropes and let Toney fight with his back to the ropes

He must stay at a jabs length

Kessler could pop and landed some good shots on Joe but also had hand issues

I imagine Toney wins in similar ways to how Ward did

I can see that playing out. Good descriptions on their chins, very fitting :yep.

If Kessler managed to land some of his best shots early, that could change Toney's punch output, and whole game plan down the stretch.

It would be a counter festival for Toney though, probably more so later in the fight, after adjustments have been made.
