Would James Kirkland trouble Sergio Martinez?

He'd ruin Martinez, no question. And it's not even that I rate Kirkland....

 

Depends on Kirklands chin. If its like in the Ishida fight he's done the moment Martinez hits him. If its up to scratch I see it being the same as the Pac Margo fight and Kirkland is going to take a vicious beating.

if kirkland had a better chin then yes he could trouble sergio but.. his style is open to counters and shots and sergio hits hard and will ko kirkland within 4 rounds.. if he had a better chin then he would be able to absorb martinez's shots better and land his own then he could trouble martinez.

 

No. He gets owned. He looked completely puzzled in there last night, he didn't know how to nullify Molina's tactics at all. Fun fighter, great to watch, but so one dimensional.

 

James's chin could be made of titanium and it wouldn't change the fact that he's simply a basic brawler who is good enough to wear down other basic fighters whom he can over power. Sergio would still be able to avoid all of James's wild shots while finding it difficult to MISS James as a target.

Closer fight than last night because Martinez doesn't have any of the ability that Molina had, has none of his Boxing IQ, none of his spoiler/ Bhop tendencies, and is defensively weaker.

4 round fight, either Kirkland wins or Martinez wins by KO.

Kirkland gets beat by any of the top fighters, let alone a top 3 or 4 pound 4 pound fighter.

Kirkland would get beat by Angulo if they fought again. Angulo punched himself out and ended up paying for it; if he is smart he wouldn't punch himself out again.

 

Kirkland would break down mentally after Sergio broke him down physically... And it would not take 10 rounds... Too much speed and savvy would cause James to wing punches one at a time looking for a one punch KO that would never materialize. James needs to either get a new trainer or stay in his pocket, fighting opposition he can deal with.
