Vitali vs Lennox

Sanders vs Rahman is a very underrated fight that could have gone either way. What was more remarkable was what both men would go on to do in their next fights. I think I have this fight just below Liakhovic vs Brewster and Povetkin vs Huck as far as great recent fights go.

Superb slugfest, but Sanders-Rahman was like '99, & the dude asked for stuff post Lewis TKO6...

I figured I would wake things up a bit and I did but in truth I am tired of the way people are so placating about Lewis retiring while I feel he still had enough left for a rematch. As far as hit and hold Lewis did (watch the punch that opens the cut...but Lewis was a good pro and pulled it off to his credit...still the cut had a big impact on the outcome and I can understand Lewis age but let a 40 year old Vitali get into a tough fight and not rematch now and you will see a double-standard...I was always a big fan of Lewis and I am American but I felt Lewis should have went out with a rematch against Vitali....and they both would have been completely prepared but that's my opinion. When I see a fighter slip badly I can understand him getting out while he was ahead but Lewis did not have too many wars and Vitali was a step up in his opposition although we did not know it at the time

 

The irony is at the time, Vitali wasn't highly regarded at all. All the talk was about Wlad, and Vitali was seen as the far lesser threat.

I remember at the time, most people were thinking that this was a pretty easy fight for Lewis.

 

Im not sure, ive lost count to be honest.

Ive heard he named one of his sons Timothy.

Timothy took his mothers surname of Bradley.

See hes even got his fathers looks and same fighting style.

Ok mate so you thought you'd wake things up by stating nonsense.

1.There was no hit and hold when Lewis initially cut Vitali, it was from a right hand landed from range. Which admittedly lead to a clinch.

2. If Lewis thought the rematch wasn't worth it that's up to him and not fans out there who disagree.

3. Lewis was past his best and had been on the decline for 2-3 years.
