Good fight. Veteran contender verses up and comer. Last I heard it was " almost done " for the Mayweather-Cotto undercard. Now it's on boxrec. Who wins?

Gomez not totally dedicated to boxing, imo.

    Vargas UD.

Unless a new and improved Gomez shows up, he's gonna lose a 8-2 type decision, barring a upset ko.

Gomez seems like he'll be knocked down by a jab in every fight now.

Gomez wins by late stoppage in a pretty good fight. The two fighters are very similar, they both throw a lot of punches, good variety of punches, not much power, but Gomez has a few more veteran tricks, particularly on the inside, a little more power, and the ability to take a better shot.

Gomez by upset stoppage. Vargas comes to fight, that'll be his downfall.

Could end up as the fight of the night. Good chance for upset here IMO. Gomez from the Soto Karass fight gives Vargas a long night (no headbutt)

Gomez always comes to win. He'll put up a good fight in this one, just don't know if he will take home the W.

I will be rooting for him.

It's weird, I used to root for Gomez, but I kinda wish he'd just retire now.

I dunno what happened, I don't dislike him, but the fact he's always so inactive makes me feel he just isn't dedicated anymore and I hate to see him be a stepping stone. I mean if he was having promotional problems I can understand that.

Vargas came up to Welterweight in his last fight and is staying there, or at least says he is.

Ah, OK. That makes more sense.

BR has this listed as being at 140.
