Foreman won that fight against Briggs. I gave Briggs 4 rounds.

We could have seen the Tyson match up, but Mike wanted no part of it. Foreman also fought Tommy Morrison who was a very good fighter. Too bad Tommy basically ran the whole fight. Anyway, the 90s were pretty deep, and an old George was lucky to even be in the mix.

Foreman didn't fight many top contenders and he avoided competition until it was time for a title shot then he stepped it up. But he was a great fighter and great fighters have always been able to defy the odds.

Micheal Moorer was a good heavyweight with a bad chin.

Shannon Briggs won a piece of the HW title 9 years after Foreman. He got a title shot in 2010. He's a 90s fighter. What does it tell you about this decade.

Alex Schulz was a tv repairman from Germany. He moonlighted as a fighter.

Lou Savarese was a 2nd tier fighter who was picked specifically because he would offer little resistance. If anything Lou fits the mold of the contenders of this era.

Alex Stewart was meant to be a soft touch. Well Foreman found out that he wasn't so soft.

Bottom line is, with the exception of Micheal Moorer these guys weren't exactly the best representative of the 90s. They were a cut below.

Some of the great fights didn't get made but there was enough talent in the 90s to prove your worth against. Tubbs was a quality heavyweight who underachieved and ate his way out of contention. But when he was in form he would have troubled many fighters regardless of era.

Bowe lowballed Lennox. Dropped the title in the trash but the fight wasn't dead there. They would have actually fought again but Lewis lost to McCall killing the momentum. They were scheduled to fight again in 1997 but Bowe's performances in the Golota fights were dismal and therefore the bout never came about.

Let me give you the 90s.

    1. Mike Tyson
    2. Evander Holyfield
    3. Riddick Bowe
    4. Lennox Lewis
    5. Michael Moorer
    6. Razor Ruddock
    7. Ray Mercer
    8. David Tua
    9. Tommy Morrison
    10. Andrew Golota
    11. Frank Bruno
    12. Oliver McCall
    13. Shannon Briggs
    14. Frans Botha
    15. Ike Ibeabuchi

    16. George Foreman was really a 70s HW but I guess we could use him.

Give me the 15 from 2000-2010.

He has a puncher's chance but I'd favor Wlad.

Bruno would shatter Wlads fragile mandible, if Corrie Sanders could put him in dream world, Bruno will put him in a coma

Alex Stewart was a good fighter, and Axel Schulz was NOT a half professional as you say, he was a pretty good german fighter and he fought a great fight against Foreman.
here is my list of 2000-2010 (without ranking them)
    Sam Peter
    Chris Byrd
    David Haye
    Ruslan Chagaev
    Sultan Ibragimov
    Eddie Chambers
    Lamon Brewster
    Corrie Sanders
    Jameel McCline
    Calvin Brock
    Thony Thompson
    Monte Barrett
    Nikolai Valuev
    Sergey Liakhovich
    Oleg Maskaev
    Alexander Povetkin
    Chris Arreola
    Odlanier Solis
    Kirk Johnson
    Vaughn Bean

then we had older guys who still fought from 2000-2010 like Shannon Briggs, Hasim Rahman, Ray Mercer, Evander Holyfield, John Ruiz, David Tua, Larry Donald, Oliver McCall and others.

pretty damn good fighters in this list.

Not only old fat Foreman, but old fat Holmes and Witherspoon also.

And if this is the weakest era in history, where are all those great 90's fighters? 40+ year old Foreman and Holmes won world titles against the young guns back then. Why cant those awesome 90's guys get any higher than #43 today??:lol:

the real question is; how great was big george? I really cannot see anyone taking such a long, long lay off and coming back at that level. Of course his power has a lot to do with it . . . but wow. The Guy took a full decade off!
