Suriyan Sor Rungvisai vs. Yota Sato is a scary one.

 

Not as much as the other two though. At least thats what I think.

First five fights you picked this week aint so bad. Maybe except Ndlovu - Mathebula.

I was unable to find anything on Garcia. On boxrec he lost almost every round to Margacheato and Smithy boy ain´t anything special.

Now, this is a really, really good week in boxing. A lot of good boxing on tap. All kinds of boxing all around the world and in the States, two big cards. One on HBO and one on NBC Sports Network. There are a lot so I won't get to all the fights on the list, just the big ones that everybody cares about.

FNF has been a major, major disappointment. Last week it was a good match up on paper, unfortunately, it just didn't pan out. That happens and you can't blame FNF for that, but pretty much everything else has been just, eh. This week is no different. Both are really just average fighters, you know, so it's not that great of a match up. Just a C level match up if you will and the result will probably be C level as well. Roberto Garcia well, he's just there. Antwone Smith is a little clever, he's got a little slickness, a little shoulder roll, he was on the wrong end of a horribly wide decision in favor of Kermit Cintron. It was a close fight, but it was just very, very wide. That set him back, he should win this fight. He should be the favorite, he should win clearly, and I'll say he does. He wins via UD. He comes forward, lets those hands go, has a little James Toney-esque type defense and wins.

Bethal Uushona is one of my favorite very, very under the radar fighters in boxing. Uushona is a very awkard, yet, effective outside boxer. Uushona has that weird, you-yo type rhythm where he just scores time and times again. Jab, straight right, jab, etc. He is a very tricky fighter, unfortunately he's from Africa. He's an African fighter with no backing, no following, and in these big fights he will always get the short end of the stick. As was the case in his first big fight against the UK's undefeated prospect Denton Vessel. It was a close, I scored it for Uushona, but the judges had it very wide in favor of Vessell. That's sort of how it goes in boxing, unfortunately. Not that it was a robbery, but Uushona really boxed Vessell landed at a good 2 to 1 rate. The way to deal with is with power and just knocking the guy out. Unfortunately, Uushona doesn't have power, because of that yo-yo type back and forth type style. He doesn't get a lot of power in his shots. Now, Jan Zaveck he can relate as well. He doesn't have power and if his fight would have gone 12 rounds, he would have gotten the short end of the stick as well. Again, that's just boxing. Zaveck is a real pro. Comes forward, good boxing ability and is an overall solid fighter. He doesn't do anything that will wow you, but he is just a pro. He comes to fight, and just looks to win and gives an honest effort. So, Zaveck-Uushona, this is probably my favorite fight of the day. I really do like both fighters. I'm picking Zaveck, I think it will be a close fight, but Zaveck is in his backyard, and Uushona won't KO Zaveck. So, pretty much Zaveck will win unless something just massive happens. Should be an entertaining and intriguing fight nonetheless.

Zab Judah, Judah, Judah, Judah. How many lives has he had, now? He always does just enough to get another big title shot, but always comes up short. This is one of those fights that Judah will win, but lose later this year if he gets a title shot. Sooner or later, though, him winning these type of fights will stop. Will it be this Saturday? It could be. Vernon Paris is a pretty decent fighter. He's got that Midwest, slick, style. He's got good speed, decent power, and he has shown a couple of times that he can dig deep and get the job down. He is vulnerable though. Even with all that slick stuff he does, that philly shell and what not. He is there to be hit, and Zab Judah should have opportunities to get his shots in. Plus, When Paris throws that right hand, he sort of gets off balance. He'll reach and get off balance and that will lead to opportunities as well. Plus, style wise, I just don't think Paris is long enough to give Judah problems from the outside, meaning he'll have to come in and leave himself. Judah is slick and throws maybe about 10 power punches a round looking for his opportunity to land that big left hand. Either the straight right or the left uppercut. Also, as well, we mentioned Paris does that philly shell, he's an orthodox fighter. Judah is a lefty. If Paris is in the pocket doing that philly shell he will get hit by that straight left by Judah. So, with all that, I'm going with Judah by stoppage.

The co-feature of the HBO card is James Kirkland and Carlos Molina. This should produce fireworks. We all know what Kirkland does. The dude just does not go backwards. From the first second of the fight he lets it all out. He immediately becomes vulnerable to counter shots. Molina is an aggressive fighter by nature, but he is a smart aggressive fighter. He has his wits about him, good defense, good chin, and is a sharpshooter. Molina is a good, clever boxer. And that is why I'm taking Carlos Molina by KO. He may not hit hard, but Nobuhiro Ishida didn't hit hard either. Ishida, as we all know, decked Kirkland 3 times and stopped him in one of the biggest upsets of the year last year. But, and this is what the Kirkland fans have been beating on, that was without Ann Wolfe. And there is merit to that argument. That was a shell of James Kirkland. That was an out of shape, and just not a sharp looking James Kirkland. With Ann Wolfe, Kirkland fought Angulo and was in much, much better shape and ended up winning a thrilling contest, as we all know. But, skills wise, there really wasn't much of a difference between a pre-Ann Wolfe and after Ann Wolfe. It was the same Kirkland that comes forward, eating punches, throwing bombs. And that is why I'm taking Molina. Molina is an overall better fighter than Kirkland and power or not I think eventually wear down Kirkland. You can only take so much and have so much stamina. Sooner or later that fades and eating punches like skittles will catch up to you. And that is why I'm taking Molina. I just see Molina countering Kirkland popping him with punches, his good defense and good chin doesn't betray him and he stops Kirkland somewhere in the fight. It's tough to envision this fight going the distance and tough to see Molina getting stopped, so that leaves one other option and that is Kirkland getting stopped. So, yeah, Molina by stoppage.

Erik Morales, can he do it again? Boy, I hope so. I'll be rooting like crazy for Morales to win this fight. Nothing against Danny Garcia, but come on, that's Erik Morales. I hope Morales wins, but it's tough to see him winning. Not impossible, but it will be tough. Morales is the ultimate boxer. High IQ, technically sound, amazing heart, tough chin, strong will and with all that he is just so exciting. Morales will have his opportunities to catch Garcia with punches. I'm not high on Garcia, I'm not. He loops a lot of his punches, stands straight up, which means he gets caught easily. Not much footwork, not really fast, good jab, but doesn't use it enough. And he has an awful left hook, and for a Philly fighter, that's a sin. Plus, he doesn't push the pace, so Morales should be okay with stamina, may'be. Danny Garcia did demonstrate a good chin taking bombs from Kendall Holt in his latest fight. Plus, Garcia is the natural at this weight, while this definitely isn't Morales' natural weight class So, when you factor all that in, this fight should go the distance. Garcia has the backing of Al Haymon, Sam Watson, and Sam Watson's kids. So, I gotta think in a close fight Garcia will get the decision. This is in Texas and Morales is the "champion" coming into this fight. So, may'be, may'be Morales will catch a break in a close fight and get the decision. But we'll see, I think it should be a pretty close fight, really leaning one way or the other. But I'm going with Garcia just because of what I said just a little while back. So, why not? Garcia by UD, but WAR MORALES! :yep
