Kell Brook - 27(18 )-0 Mike Jones - 26 (19)-0 Both are moving along nicely, learning their trade. In the next year, if they don't meet eachother, they will start attracting attention, and bouts.
He's fighting again 7th July. The problem with Kell is he hasnt really progressed in the last 2 years. He beat a top ranked Euro (Bienias) & the British #1 (Jennings) but got nowhere because the WBO champ, Pacquiao is never gonna fight someone like him. He's recently beat a top ranked Euro (Jackiewicz) & the British #1 (Hatton) & hopefully he gets a decent name next & then a world title shot later in the year.
At least make the ATTEMPT to start negotiations instead of just throwing hands up in the air and blaming politics. I have no doubt the 4 will decline immediate meeting with Kell which would make their eventual meeting buzzworthy.
Everyone is overprotected till they're ready for a big/serious fight. If they're not overprotected early then you won't see any stars building up in the sport.
How do you know they haven't tried? And why would criticize them if they didn't try if you concede he has no shot at getting those fights? Why don't we get on his case for not trying to negotiate with Mayweather and Pacquiao while we're at it?
Yes I would, although Hatton's more durable I think Jennings was a much better boxer. The most Ive seen Kell struggle was against Jennings, who was being elusive & not giving him a stationary target.
Jump from Mat Haton to the Ortiz-Berto winner is a suicide. He should step gradually in 2-3 more fights before facing those type of guys.
