M-1 Challenge 31 - ahead of basketball, hockey, formula 1 in Russian TV ratings

    According to the ratings of TV coverage with Channel Russia 2 tournament in mixed martial arts M-1 Challenge 31 Oleinik vs Monson watched 1.245 million viewers, which was the second result on a given channel on March 16.

    For comparison, the program March 16:
    13.50 - 16.20 Biathlon. The World Cup 2011-2012. - 1.411 million viewers
    17.40 - 19.30 Hockey. League. Open Championship of Russia 2011/2012 - 913 000 people

    During the period March 16 terrestrial broadcast M-1 Challenge ranks second in the ratings, beating well as basketball championship and the Formula 1.

    Mixed Martial Arts. Fedor Emelyanenko (Russia) vs Antonio Silva (Brazil) February 13, 2011 - 1,029,200 viewers
    M-1 Challenge XXV April 28, 2011 - 664 000

    Thus for the total period of broadcasts of tournaments M-1 on channel 2 Russia (2009 - 2012) is the best result of the tournament after the broadcast of M-1 Global Fedor vs Monson and the best ratings in the etheric grid Russia 2 in the "arts".

    Hmmmmm. Now it may just be me...but these aren't actually very good, are they? I mean the USA may have a larger population but any halfway decent star on television can do about 3million (look at how Spike's numbers jumped when they had Bisping on the TUF Finale recently) while Velasquez-JDS did 10million.

    UFC on FOX 1 rating average between Junior dos Santos and Cain Velasquez was 5.7 million. This would have dipped down to the floor after glass jawed Cain kissed the floor after just 1 minute hahahah. America also has something like twice the population of Russia making the TUF, UFC, and Bellator ratings very abysmal :rofl.


    Over a million for M-1 when two of their biggest drawmakers (Alex and Monson) came off a loss. M-1 also had the second highest sports program rating. I think that points to SUCCESS.

    Ignoring the fact that the actual fight did double the viewership of the average, accounting for population differences then 5.7million is still MORE THAN DOUBLE what Fedor's best fight did on Russian Television. And that's with the rating being depressed with the fight only going a minute.

    And the other stats are ludicrious. I never said that Bellator (WTF!?!) or The Ultimate Fighter had done three million. I said that SPIKE FIGHT NIGHTS had done three million when the UFC had deigned to give them a major star - Couture/Bisping, Kimbo and Bisping being the last three examples.

    But just for fun. Diaz vs Condit on ESPN UK did better ratings than all Bundesliga matches, all NBA matches, some Serie A matches, some NFL matches, International ODI Cricket Matches. OH MY GOD UFC IS JUST SO HUGE IN THE UK!!!

    Look at the ratings now for the UFC, its way down to their golden days of Brock Lesnar and his WWE fans.

    Per capita head the Fedor v Monson slaughtered the Cain v JDS. That over a million rating for Fedor was against Bigfoot. Fedor's fight against Monson had many more millions tune in. I think even the weigh in and interview had a higher rating than most UFC events.

    1) the Cain v JDS had the peak view at less than double the average (8.8 million).
    2) the Cain v JDS fight only lasted roughly 1 minute so overall viewership for the whole event was even worse than the average.
    3) The Fedor v Monson fight had an average of 7.5 million viewers, packed the 22,153 capacity stadium, and scored the highest sports rating on Russian TV (higher than soccer which is amazing).
    4) Even the event not headlined by Fedor (Monson as headliner), M1 still managed to top boxing and F1.
