Doesn't matter, Vanes has skills and Kirkland doesn't. You look at resume and I look at skills. They don't compare their resumes when they get into the ring, they fight.

Vanes also doesn't have a first round knockout loss to a journeyman on his resume like Kirkland does, something you neglected to mention.

And of course, all those skills Vanes have shown have been displayed in fights vs grossly overmatched opponents who were miles away from world level. He's been scarcely interested in actually getting in the ring and fighting anyone who'd even be rated as decent.

Yay, they should both have one loss. That doesn't take away from the fact Vanes' resume is still much worse than Kirkland's, despite the fact that Kirkland was out of boxing for a year and doesn't have that many names himself. And of course, if you were interested in making a point about chins, you'd be neglectful to not point out what happened in the Saul Roman fight...

GBP didn't have an option there, they had to get the Mares-Agbeko fight in before year end. Couldn't have gone 12/10 because that would've gone opposite their own card on HBO. 12/17 no dice because of Ward-Froch. And that's the year. I find it hard to fault, it wasn't a big card anyway.

I wasn't making a point about chins I was merely pointing out that Kirkland got destroyed by a light puncher with 7 loses. Something that makes you talking about him having a better resume a joke.

Vanes would beat Kirkland because he's a better fighter, period. Chavez is a better fighter too, bigger and tougher. Both of them would put Kirland away without much trouble.

It all goes back to skills. You keep skirting around them and talking about paper but who cares about that.

And Vanes, for all of his supposed skills, lost clearly over 10 to another guy with 7 losses who was 1-4 going into the fight.

I simply see no reason you can make any valid projection about skills when the guy you're talking about has never seemed the least bit interested in demonstrating them against a world class opponent. Vanes makes Chavez look like a risk-taker.

Wow they must really have a lot of faith in the kid's chin! I mean most other C level lightheavy weights`with awful defense and absolutely no boxing ability would have a tough time dealing with Kirkland.

Kirkland looked like shite Middleweight. I'm not a fan of this fight. Like others have said, NO REASON for it to be anyone other than another middleweight. It's the most stacked division going right now.

Well, Top Rank assigned fault and that is all that matters. The truce was dead.
