Tyson's actual body of work exceeds that of Wlad's and Vitaly shouldn't even be in the equation. I've seen every single fighter on Tyson's Wlad's and Vitaly's list that was mentioned and it's pretty clear to me that Tyson's is a cut above. I wasn't even sure that it was up for dispute honestly.

Considering that Holmes 4 years later went on to earn a title shot against Holyfield by beating an undefeated Ray Mercer (not the corpse that Wlad fought) and extended Evander Holyfield the distance picking up a few rounds in the process I would argue that Holmes wasn't infact a corpse, rather he was in with a fighter who would have beaten him at just about every stage of his career.

I think it's pretty clear that if you have an objective look at the resume's that Vitaly is almost immediately eliminated from the discussion. Wlad comes a clear second place. Tyson's victims were far more capable fighters than Wlads.

Spinks' two wins over Larry Holmes is far greater than anything on Wlad or Vitaly's resume. Spinks was a capable fighter in against man who was stylistically a nightmare.

I've never seen any respected boxing historian, expert, pundit or ESB poster argue that Riddick Bowe deserves to be ranked higher than Mike Tyson. This is clearly agenda driven. Riddick Bowe is a distant 4th.

Arguments can be made for Tyson, Lewis and Holyfield to outrank each other but that is getting off task.

neither Tyson or either Klitschko are top 10 heavyweights of all time. Tyson ranks higher than both though in the top 15....Wlad cracks top 20 and Vitali just outside the top 25

Tysons resume is clearly superior to either of the Klits, just beating Holmes alone is bigger than anything on the Klits resume

Maybe but the facts are Bowe beating a prime Holyfield twice trumps anything Tyson has done imo.

Beating a prime holyfield twice > Winning the HW title in within 2 rounds at the age of 20, becoming the youngest man ever to do so?

    Really?

What age you won the title doesn't actually mean anything in the grand scheme of things, why would it? Actual legacy and body of work is all I'm interested in.

Winning the title ages 20, is actual legacy, it is an acheivement that noone equalled before or since

So is being the oldest ever hw champ, or the oldest man to win a title

These are things only truly special fighters are able to accomplish

So? Yes it's a nice personal achievement but so what? Longevity and CV is all that really counts. Can it even be argued that Lewis at the same age winning gold at The Olympics at the same point in history is a far better achievement? I would probably say so.

    You are digressing

Your comment was that Bowe beating prime Holyfield was better than anything Tyson had done

That's incorrect, as becoming the youngest ever HW title holder is a far greater achievement and leaves a longer lasting legacy in itself, than any two wins over a fighter

It is unlikely anyone will do what Tyson did again
