I agree with you Taylor Dirrell AA Pascal and Johnson dont have any major claims at 168, but to suggest they are bums or weak because of this, then that is a flawed logic.

Then you would have to accept:-

Anthony Mundine would have been a tougher challenge than Marvin Hagler at 168.

Hagler hasnt done nothing at all at 168, but Mundine was a world title holder at 168.

IMO, a 160 Hagler would whoop a 168 Mundine into the Glass Jaw rankings, despite Mundine having better credentials than Hagler in the SMW division.

Well that's impressive, especially since Ottke was known as a KO artist:lol:

    oh yeah real desperate

clears out 168, then in his 1st fight at a new weight, fought abroad against the man who just decimated tarver with a biased american ref and 3 american judges, during the best winning run of hopkins career - real easy option there :rofl

if b-hop had the balls to fight calzaghe in 2002, there would be nothing left for you to cry about, but hopkins turned down a career high payday to fight calzaghe in america like a complete and utter ***** :yep

Well Calzaghe battered him in 2. So now you know why Otkke never came near Joe and why Joe didn't unify sooner.

He was probably chosen as the replacement-from what was on offer-because he had been in the with Otkke - that was my point.

Managers and promoters do this to smoke out rivals. You are probably too dumb to work that out.

These are (some of) the options Calzaghe had at 175:-

    1. Hopkins II
    2. Dawson
    3. Tarver
    4. Pavlik
    5. Froch

All those 5 fights would have been alot tougher than a shot RJJ.

    Calzaghe chose the shot RJJ.

You've really gone off on a complete tangent in this post. You clearly misunderstood my original post, and for some reason have written an essay 'schooling' me when I never made any sort of controversial statement. I think Calzaghe is a different class of fighter to Froch, irrespective of styles, he's simply a superior fighter, I think he would beat Froch clearly. It was never a post to compare Calzaghe and Ward's styles, and how they would match up against Froch. Another point you ignore, is that Ward tired in the late rounds, allowing Froch to make the fight closer from rounds 9-12, that wouldn't happen with Calzaghe.

You haven't schooled anyone you mong. You've written a list of responses to comments that were never made, wasting your own time :patsch. I don't really disagree with any of the points you made, I just never made any statements for you to respond to. You simply don't understand the point I initially made.

Froch would have less of a chance against Calzaghe then he would against Ward. For starters, Calzaghe is a southpaw, name me one world class southpaw that Froch has fought and beaten?

Calzaghe and Froch both like to fight on the front foot, however this doesn't mean Froch has a better chance! You think Froch could force Calzaghe to fight going backwards!? You really don't know ****. Calzaghe had great lateral movement, he would out-throw and outland Froch, he would be able to get off first and was a master of controlling distance. Want an example of Calzaghe fighting on the inside with a high volume output? Watch his fight against Hopkins.

You keep stating 'Froch would have his moments' without actually explaining how.

I hope before you answer, you actually take the time to read my post :patsch

Knockout Artist, I will be back in a bit so we can come to common terms, whether in a harsh manner or soft manner, on this fiasco.

Calzaghe unified in 2006, 8 - 9 years after winning the WBO title.

There was alot of politics involved, Svenn Ottke, Markus Beyer Mundine Manny Siaca Byron Mitchell.....were doing there own thing.

If I have to put blame on someone it would be his fish eyed promoter.

At the end of the day, Calzaghe unified all four titles and became the first and only Undisputed SMW. That is a feat which Froch has not completed and probably wont complete.

    That is why I said:-

In terms of resume, achievements, Skill, Talent....:-

    Calzaghe > Froch

In terms for risk taking, balls, heart.....:-

    Froch > Calzaghe.

Both deserve respect for different reasons.

This why the Super Six was such a unique tournament. It played a big part getting Froch the fights. Although Froch would have travelled anyway and did tavel, it took the main obstacles from making fights away.

The main problem is that Calzaghe never lost early in his career therefore he never had anything prove. For years he thought like a champion and never a challenger.

To be fair, Frank did get him the unification fights.

i see where your coming from, hagler is an exceptional atg though and the fighters i mentioned are nowhere near that level, plus 168 didn't exist when hagler was fighting.

the thing for me though soldier is that this 168 division is being massively overated due to the super6 exposure it has received and due to the fact that there are a few americans in the mix up.

these american posters on here are dumb as ****, gullably brainwashed by HBO and ring magazine all their lifes, the most insular, narrow minded, pig ignorant nation on the entire planet, half of these ****ers don't even own a passport, if exposure isn't shoved infront of their face, they don't have a ****ing clue. I dare any of these mother****ers to go and check out james toneys 168 reign :patsch

the only time any of these assholes rate any european is if an american beats them

    eg dawson v ademek
    jones v woods
    toney v jirov

imo ademek, woods, and jirov are the definition of eurobum, yet these ****ing idiots want to try and make out they were good victories just because these fighters got some exposure in america.

lets see how this current crop of 168 fighters look like 10 years from now.

these posters are quick to mock lacy now, but what if

    - ward grows a pair of balls and fights bute in canada and get KTFO, and then loses a re-match to bute, and then re-matches kessler and gets KTFO - are these bell-ends gonna turn around 10 years from now and mock ward the same way they do lacy?

what if dirrell loses his next 2 fights, and the only real win he ever has at 168 is a disqualified win over a 160 fighter in abraham.

ward and direll are still young, lets see how they are ranked when they have been round the block 10 years from now.

froch is admirable in that he ducks no-one and will fight in anyones backyard - that can't ever be taken away from him, but the only 2 fighters he has faced with a proven 168 pedigree are kessler and ward and he's lost both fights.

easy in hindsight but calzaghe had spoke a longtime previously about his alarming lack of motivation to train / fight and he wanted one last payday before he retired.

hopkins stank the house out in the 1st fight, calzaghe wasn't goin to rematch a fighter whom he recieved no credit for beating the 1st time (at that time) and who was more interested in holding and time wasting, rather than creating a spectacle for the fans.

froch had nothing on his resume at that time at all, a victory over froch at that time would have been recieved by people on here on a lower level than the likes of woodhall and reid currently are.

tarver got destroyed by hopkins who joe had just beat, fight made no sense.

pavlik and dawson were the 2 interesting ones for me but calzaghe would have recieved a fraction of the payday to fight them, and thats basically what is last fight was for - a big payday to retire from.

he took roy jones, he made his money, and yes in hindsight it may have looked the easy option, but at the time there were many boxers and esb posters who tipped jones to win that fight because they knew that calzaghe didn't have the power to expose roys glass jaw and it would purely be a match up of boxing skills.

You know my view on Calzaghe, while he was fighting I never liked him, but after he retired I realised he was a great credit to the sport.

In my opinion, Calzaghe already done what 99% of fighters dream off doing, and he was content with what he had accomplished.

He could have taken the high risk low reward fights in:-

    1. Hopkins II
    2. Pavlik
    3. Dawson
    4. Tarver
    5. Froch

But he deserved a big payday regardless and did the right choice (financially and health wise) to sign out on a shot RJJ.

As The Genius has stated above, Froch has loses so he is in a position where he has to fight anyone anywhere anytime, Calzaghe wasnt in such position so had the freedom to call the shots.

Me as a boxing fan, would rather have watched Calzaghe show more to his game, and display the experience he gained in his years in the sport by fighting off young lions of the LHW division. This would have given that respect which Froch and BHop is given. I am not saying Calzaghe aint respected, Calzaghe's achievements are amongst the best, but he dont have have BHop and Froch done which is fight tough opposition back to back.

No one expected RJJ to beat Calzaghe... everyone looked at that fight as a joke. Even Calzaghe looked at it as a joke months before negotiations, because he knew Jones was way past it and that fight would achieve nothing more than being a horribly shot fighter who had not won a meaningful fight in years.
