LAMPLEY'S Advice for KIRKLAND: Go GHETTO on Him...!!!

You all are something serious. I can't stand Lampley. Never have. But now he's a racist? Apparently he hates everyone but Filipinosatsch

 

Yeah their are all kinds of ghetto but most people are fixated on blacks being from the ghetto. It's just lke what other's have said Tomasz Adamek is from the ghetto, but you would never hear Lampley say "Tomasz needs to go polish ghetto on him". And for the people who say oh it's not a racist statement are wrong in this case. But it figures because whites never think race is a factor, even when it is a factor! They feel their is no racism anymore because they haven't faced the same kind of prejudice we still face since probaly many centuries ago.

 

He's been making big money for decades as an announcer and had access to higher education early on. If he were from a rough area and regularly came in contact with black people, I doubt he'd be saying Kirkland has to "go ghetto." Roy Jones Jr., James Toney, or even Emmanuel Steward would probably never say that phrase. I'm not saying Lampley is a raging racist, but implying that ghetto = inherently violent to viewers is ignorant and just reinforces socially enforced stereotypes about poor minorities.

Again, I'm not saying this was a huge deal, but there are reasons for being upset.

Good points. Different marginalized social groups can face similar conditions, and still have very different social narratives surrounding them. There's no social group that has the same array of negative associations as blacks do, I feel.

 

i just realized that kirkland and maybe kimbo are the only brothas that can go "ghetto" in the ring at this time.

Not true at all, especially how it weakens the argument when the race card is always pulled out. Of course racism is still in existence, very much so. You don't have to go trying to make every little statement that can be construed as racist into a big racist moment when you don't have to search far for ACTUAL racism that's prevalent. ****, just read a few threads on ESB, it's all there for the viewing.

To say white people feel their is no racism in the world is just ignorant.

Just watched a replay. Lampley backed off his statement. Hey, live event. But, you want to be ticked off about racism, turn your attention to Florida. That would be more worth your efforts.

Anne wolfe whispered in Kirkland, something about his kid... i heard " if this guy wanted to take your boy, you gonna let him, or kill that mother ****er" I heard something like that, it worked... also Molina stopped hugging because he was warned at the start of the round, so yeah perfect combination and Kirk got to his man.

 

A poll conducted last week by Opinion Research Corp. for CNN indicates that whites and blacks disagree on how serious a problem racial bias is in the United States.

Almost half of black respondents -- 49 percent -- said racism is a "very serious" problem, while 18 percent of whites shared that view. Forty-eight percent of whites and 35 percent of blacks chose the description "somewhat serious."
And saying it's only "somewhat serious" is naivity by the whites and blacks who chose that statement in the poll.

 

That's because every yo slinging crack on a street corner thinks its racist when they get arrested.

 

And this is why racism is alive and well and will continue!
