Why no buzz about Pavlik's upcoming fight this week?

Honestly, I wasn't even aware it was going to happen.

 

What's all this **** about being worried for his opponent? Pavlik is not the beast he once was. You're making him out to be prime like Mugabi or something.

 

Obviously.

Even a 60% Pavlik is a threat to put a guy like Jaco into a coma.

Do some research on Jaco.

 

If Jaco wants to fight professionally again, which I'm going out on a limb and guessing he does, who are we to really stop him?

Corners can throw in towels, fighters can take knees, and refs can jump in at any time.

If you don a pair of boxing gloves, you know EXACTLY what you're getting yourself into. I'm prepared to get KTFO and embarrassed anytime I ever spar. When I engage in body-shot sparring, I am prepared to have to go to the hospital with massive internal swelling. It's the name of the game.

 

That's true. It's the responsibility of the matchmakers to not put in two guys on completely different levels (one a big puncher, and one susceptible to getting brutally KTFO by a strong breeze)

Yeah, it's no doubt garbage match-making. 100%. Just the angle that the TS took, I find to be a little off.

On another note: You wonder why fighters are so damn inactive and fight so much less compared to fighters from the past? Because Jaco's (I mean, comparable record and skill wise) would litter the resume's of some of the finest fighters from generations past. They'd fight two Jaco's a month. Or 3 title defenses and 6 Jaco's in a calendar year. I'd take that over 2 title defenses and 0 Jaco's in a calendar year.

 

One of the most recent videos I watched his face is looking like he did back when he beat Taylor to me. Even Seckbach asked if Pavlik had lost weight or something. Pavlik is going to show no mercy in this fight its scary for this Jaco kid. People think Pavlik is a nice guy, but thats not quite the case. The guys like Pavlik are the guys that can really get a lot of rage built up in them.

 

With his power, Pavlik could seriously hurt any fighter around. Given the fact he's going to be rusty and trying out new things, I don't think that is likely, no matter how poor or weak chinned Jaco is. It'll probably be a routine stoppage rather than a sustained beating.

Am I missing something, like a past brain injury? I don't know much about Jaco at all. I've only heard him mentioned a few times. He's obviously well out of his depth against Pavlik but I think the calls about a serious injury are both tasteless and unlikely.

 

The problem is very deep rooted.

I'm not saying that, should a fighter nowadays fight 10 times a year, 3 title defenses and 7 Jaco-esque opponents, that they would all be on TV. Just saying that when they do fight 2 or 3 times a year and when 1 or 2 are Jaco-esque opponents that we have to watch on HBO or Showtime, we know why. And essentially, a lot of it has to do with the culture turning towards the era where 1 loss brings a financial and career death sentence.

 

He sparred Seckbach? I saw the one where he sparred the english version of Seckbach, Pavlik beat him up a little bit. Thats what I like to see though, A fighter can lose their killer instinct doing light sparing with beginners or kids.
