B team commentators also with Bob Papa & Roy Jones Jr. instead of Jim Lampley & Emanuel Steward. HBO PPV only really happens these days with Pacquiao or Mayweather fights & the odd other big fight like Cotto-Margarito 2 etc.
Lets hope hbo go ahead with this for geales sake. It sounds very strange showcasing four relatively obscure fighters on their network. Maybe the geale v pirog fight is to introduce sergio's next opponent? Anyway, hope it has legs and it isnt just something hbo are fooling around with.
Well the winner of Geale-Pirog sets up a nice alternative opponent for Sergio Martinez outside of the obvious Chavez Jr. Otherwise the winner of Geale-Pirog can take on Andy Lee, Matt Macklin, Peter Quillin or even Chavez Jr.(bit of a stretch) who all have been showcased by HBO in the last 6 odd months. HBO is spending decent $ on the 160 pound division & needs alternatives...& ones with belts are an even better sell. The Trout-Dzinziruk fight is a similar situation. HBO owed Dzinziruk a fight due to HBO's stupid 2 fight agreement with him from a couple years back. Rids HBO of this contractual issue, plus if Trout wins he is viable alternative option for a variety of 154 pounders including James Kirkland & Saul Alvarez.
go geale, toughest fight to date if it happens, i remember watching pirog vs jacobs? and that was a masterclass with power also, so going to be a high paced fight i feel, hopefully geale can get the win and a big pay day from it too!!
Pirog may be stepping up too far against Geale. Needless to say it's a great opportunity for both fighters. Yeah, obscure fighters in the scheme of things but you can't say its not deserved, solid bunch of fighters who can use the exposure on US network.
