I am amazed sometimes watching fights how few guys will jab! It's almost an annoyance at times!

Imagine Chico Corrales if he had a good, stiff jab to set up his power shots.

yeah and it's very important defensively because if you do it right you protect yourself from the right counter. Williams was never going to get his ass KOed that way by Sexy if he had set up his punch with a jab (In this case he ate the left as they are both southpaws)

Unless you're a Jones, or a Whittiker, then you need a jab it's that simple. It's a multi purpose punch, both offensive and defensive.

Corrales had a good jab! The idiot just neglected it. That's why he got obliterated by Mayweather. He'd of lost either way but if he'd jabbed he wouldn't of been knocked down so many times! He wanted to fight too much, when he should of tried to keep range.

    Not a huge Corrales fan.

Around 8:50 (I think maybe 8:30) of the second video it sounded like Mayweather called the SP Larry. Dose that name ring any bells?
Also around 9:30 the SP uses Roger Mayweather as a shield to get some rest, smart move.

:good Multi faceted punch. Greatest punch in Boxing IMO.

Common sense mostly. Mayweather isn't stupid; he was going to be quicker no matter what, so he put a little extra weight on. He was clearly the bigger guy in that fight, his size helped him in that fight. (Not that he needed it.)

He's a bigger fighter since he came back, not as mobile as the guy who fought Baldomir and Hatton, but physically stronger, thicker set. This will help him against Cotto, he'll be the physically stronger man IMO. He wouldn't of been in 08.

Sparring matches aren't meant to be competitive. You are working on all parts of your game, and what your opponents strengths are weaknesses might be.

so wait... did they stop the sparing because time was up or because they really felt henry was taking to many punches?

Common sense? Why put on a lil extra weight for Marquez? As far as Floyd from 08 to today, of course he's going to grow. That's just age. Cotto was never stronger than Floyd at ww.

Eh, he was taking good shots near the end, but I don't think that was the reason.

If anything he was on his way to being completely gassed.

He neglected it quote often. Especially for his size against shorter guys.

Hell, a rock solid Jab alone gave Jermain Taylor enough to make up for things he lacked, like in-fighting.

So you train others? That's great! Preach the jab to your fighters! Make that **** gospel! :deal
