stuck to it. He said his game plan was to stay busy until the latter rounds. He said he was going to go harder later in the fight because he knew how cagey Molina was. Kirkland WAS getting busier. I didn't think Molina was going to last through 11, and 12. You never know though.
Kirland really stuck to his gameplan which was suprising but against a boxer like Molina it was all wrong. The DQ seriously happened at the worst time. I had Molina ahead comfortably though. Who knows if Kirkland had him out of there in last 2 rounds.. Ending kinda reminded me of Direll-Abraham.
He had a terrible game plan because he almost never jabbed to get inside. It still boggles my mind how professional boxers don't use the jab to set up their attack.
this was a perfect example of a time where kirkland did not need to box and use his jab. he fared MUCH better leading with his left and starting combinations with his lead left. When he tried to jab that is when Molina was able to outbox him. Anne Wolfe has done a phenomanal job with James and she is an amazing trainer/person but I was hoping she would give James specific instructions like that b/c it was very obvious what was and was not working.
I wanted to see the rest of the bout... Kirkland was coming on strong and he could've knocked out Molina in the 11th or the 12th or Molina could of weathered the storm and possibly won a decision.
i noticed that too. she seemed lost and couldnt give specific instructions to james. they have good chemistry tho. shes more of a motivator and gets him to unleash the beast like in the later rounds against molina.
Wonder why he refused to give a urine sample? Can you imagine if Pac had done such? Molina kicked his arse!
So you're saying a fairly slow footed guy with average hand speed is better off trying to close the distance with telegraphed power shots instead of jabbing?
Molina looking for DQ loss to be changed to no contest! http://www.eastsideboxing.com/news.php?p=31317&more=1
you are twisting it dramitcaly. for whatever reason if you re watch the fight Molina was waiting for the jab and when the jab came and almost anything after it he was able to neutralize the entire offense, When the straight left began any sequence Molina was often hit with it right off the bat and if he blocked it Kirkland's 2nd or third shot of the combination was finding a home. It was almost as if Molina could not see the lead left cause he was watching for the jab. When Kirkland through the jab his offense was like blair from facts of life When Kirkland through the lead left his offense was like Michael Meyers from Halloween 1.
