He's been a great fighter for many years, and has an excellent defense.

He's a great counter puncher and has fought everyone he could across all the weight divisions.

He's still fighting on and some regard him as the best ever, but where would you place him?

That's one of his greatest fights, sweet science at its best.

    Who????

Anyway somewhere between 75-125, he was good but i think he's become a bit of a myth with time, he lost every round to jones, was beaten twice soundly by the good but not great griffen, never fought benn, eubank, hopkins, cherry picked ruiz at h/w and got busted for roids, i mean he's not top 50 material imo.

Damn when you list the negatives it's hard to place anyone as an ATG.

What he achieved in the ring makes him an ATG even though the roids thing was a downfall, you cant deny his skills and great defense. Fighters like him are a dying breed.

Toney a good fighter dont get me wrong, but a steroid taint is hard to overcome in my mind, how long had he been taking? we will never know but i can tell you Toney hasnt done anything since he got busted? Its a cloud of doubt simmilar to what Margarito has over him.

I think Toney is a legend and a character, but im certain you could rattle off 50 greater fighters even since 1950 better than toney.

He's by no means a lock for the top 100, though personally, I think I could probably make room for him. Still, he isn't cracking the top 90.

I always thought the term 'ATG' was used for boxers who would fall into the 100 greatest ever, so with that criteria I wouldn't class him as an ATG.

Top 50. Could've become the greatest fighter from MW upwards in the last 20 years, if only he had been more dedicated and disciplined. So much potential. So much wasted potential...

A huge underachiever, yet still a very good resume. A typical old-school record, fight the best, win some, lose some. But he's without doubt one of the most skilled and one of the toughest to ever lace em up.
