I always think that Roy made a terrible mistake to come back to 175 again after he beat John Ruiz and became the World HW Champion. If he continued to fight at that biggest weight class and faced Mike Tyson next then what do you think the result of the fight would be?

Tough call...if Tyson lands its probably goodnight but if RJJ boxed smart he wins a UD

    I will go with RJJ

Tyson was too past it at that point

Tyson would eventually catch him. I mean, it is not like the fight will go twelve rounds and Tyson is hitting air all night. This fight would have been huge and hyped like no other HW back then.

Rjj ud. Tyson didn't want the fight. Neither did Holyfield. Rjj at that point was still technically unbeaten and still #1 p4p. I think Tyson would have a chance in the first few rounds but if he didn't, i see Rjj just being too fast for Tyson. Ruiz was much more of a live opponent than Tyson at the time.

I believe Tyson and Holyfield could not take RJJ seriously and out of respect turned the fight down. They possibly thought they would kill RJJ in the ring. Both would beat RJJ. RJJ beat Ruiz because Ruiz was made for him. John's style was easy work for Ruiz yet if Ruiz fought Tyson it would be more competitive just like when John fought Holyfield. Holyfield even confessed that John's style was awkward with that sneaky right. It falls under styles make fights.

If Rj had barely gotten past Ruiz, i would say Tyson all day but he clowned Ruiz. Rj even got hit with some good shots and was stunned once very early but as he got used to Ruiz's punches, he took them well as the fight wore on. Rj was actually very good at smothering Ruiz's offense by smartly clinching or fighting at distance.

I don't buy that. $$ talks and Tyson could've certainly use the millions and Holyfield even admitted that he didn't think he could track Rj down because of his speed.

Accidentally voted RJJ by KO, but I actually think he could have decisioned that version of Tyson, on his best night.

roy jones called out buster douglas one time...buster answered and roy backed down.....or lets say his "daddy" advised him too. if he wouldnt get in the ring with buster, he wasnt gonna get in the ring with monsters like tyson and holyfield...roy jones had 2 guys he would have only seriously entertained the idea of fighting at heavyweight, chris byrd and ruiz.... the end

I heard that Roy had a plan to fight Holyfield next after he beat Ruiz. Was that true?

Even an old Mike would beat Roy. Just a few bodypunches and Roy would not go very long. Roy fought the easiest heavyweight he could ever beat in Ruiz.
