Oi Mendoza, stop being a player-hater. :nono

I think your only bigging-up Ike, cos he's getting parolled in May, And your gonna hype teh **** outta him, since you know teh WBC would love to let Vitali defend his alphabet strap against him. :yep

You might claim Old Ibeabuchi is looking bigger And stronger then ever, like when you did so for Ol' Briggs before his title shot @VitKlit.

    Foreman Hooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooook!:hat

Ibeabuchi was never really tested, imo. Even the senior version of Big George takes him out before the fight's half over.

Prime George does it within three rounds.

Wasn't tested ? He went a fast and furious 12 with a prime, highly motivated David Tua ... hundreds of punches were thrown and taken on both sides ... Ike threw more punches in that fight than Foreman did in any three fights of his comeback combined ... he proved to have fast hands, terrific stamina and an iron chin ... He was exactly the type of fight the older Foreman would never get into the ring with ... He then iced a prime Chris Byrd far easier and more decisively than either Klitschko ... to say he was not tested is a nonsense considering that either Tua or Byrd would have beaten Foreman at any time in his comeback ...

I agree with you about Byrd,as Foreman would have been too slow at that juncture. Not sure about Tua.

George definitely showed a terrific chin in his comeback ... he took a good one from Cooney .. he took a dozen from Holyfield .. he took a dozen more from MIke Moorer ... amazingly he took Tommy Morrison's shots, to me the most impressive of the lot ... however he was very , very smart not to fight a Bowe or a Lewis ... he knew better ... too big, strong, fast and hard hitting .. to his credit he was willing to fight Tyson if it could be made but he was extremely lucky that fight was never played out ... his legacy would likely been far different , the image of a too far reaching, bloated, middle aged man on the floor would have caused universal cringing and not sell burgers .... I believe Ike would have been the same ... too young, too fast , too strong ...

The reason Cooney did not land," a few more good ones," is because he got ko'd after a few good ones landed on him.:huh

Ike was only rated in 1999, of the 10 in that yearly list. Lewis fought, and beat 6 of them. Ike beat 2 men who were rated Byrd and Tua. Tua was whitewashed by Lewis.

Of all the champs Lewis was the one who did not avoid anyone.

Ok what is your point.Did old Foreman ever been stopped? No!He fought number of big punchers like Shannon Briggs,Tommy Morrison,Alex Stewart,Gerry Cooney,Bert Cooper. How many punches did he took from Holyfield and how many heavyweights would survive that.Old George Foreman was walking powerhouse and dangerous for everyone. He was much better in his earlier stage of comeback 1988-1991 because he had more discipline and Archie Moore in his corner. If Ike Ibeabuchi would stand in front of George Foreman he would be knocked out.If he would move around he could win.

I'd agree but Lewis and the rest of the division were thrilled to see that monster off their backs ... a few more wins and Lewis would have had to fight him and I cannot think of a bigger challenge for Lennox ...

If he got them? Shot Cooney? he was 33 , had lost 2 fights both to world champions, Foreman was 41.

No way Foreman is getting stopped, thats ****ing laughable imo

Although i do think Foreman would get outworked and outjabbed all night, and Ike takes a clean, clear decison victory

Ike should win a decision but if he fights stupid as against Tua he could be in for a long night.

Tua is nothing to write home about, he was the easiest of the top ten talents of the 90's to outbox, insiders called him the "One trick pony".........and a old Holyfield absolutely MURDERED him in the gym.

Besides the Byrd and Tua wins Ike has a very poor resume and was very untested, both Tua and Byrd were small Hwt's and both had really not what one would call a quality jab. Byrd made him look pretty silly until the KO and I am convinced if Byrd would not have clowned around he would have beaten Ike who was already going off the rails at that time and barely trained for the fight.

If he would have gone tit for tat with Foreman like he did with Tua the possibility of a Moorer replay is not out of the question.

Ike's corner begged him to box and not to slug...........while Foreman at that stage was slower than Tua he had a little more to offer than just a left hook..........he shook up Holyfield a couple of times and while I would put my money on Ike Foreman is a very live underdog here.

Ike had potential and 2 very good wins but that is it. A case can be made that he should have lost the fight with Tua... I had Ike winning a close fight but it could have went either way or even a draw would have been fine... no shame either way really.

Byrd got better after his loss to Ibeaubuchi. Byrd had yet to face a top HW. He had stopped Jimmy Thunder in the 9th and barley decisioned Arthur Williams (Byrd was down in the 1st round). As for the Klitschko's vs. Byrd? Byrd had been outboxed by V. Klitschko prior to Klitschko pulling out due to an injured shoulder after 9 rounds. Byrd was down twice and clearly outboxed by W. Klitschko but managed to go the distance. Byrd was badly beaten by Wlad in their rematch and stopped in the 7th.

What else did Ike do? Nothing! Did he have perhaps the best potential seen in a HW in a long time? Absolutely!!!
