Losing muscle mass doesn't effect your chin. Losing muscle mass doesn't make you slower.

Getting off the roids does though

  4. Look at the tomatoe cans he fought next few fights after hall.
He lost almost every big he was in for the next 20.

He beat Journeyman Ruiz. He beat Tarver 1 out of 3 lol. He beat a 170 lb Trinidad
Also: Prince Badi ? Hanshaw ? Clinton Woods, Glen Kelly, Harmon?
Washed up Lacy, Sheika, Max Alexander.

Got demolished by Lebedev, Green, Tarver 2x , GJ,Calzhage,Hopkins.

Yes it can. It's the way he did it. He did not do it gradually. He used a very strict diet and over-trained to take off the weight/muscle. And all at an advanced age for an athlete. All things you do not do.

When you do what he did, It makes you weaker. He destroyed his body's equilibrium. You can throw off your own hormone levels. It can affect your Cortisol levels. It can throw off your thyroid. It can lower your HGH and Testosterone levels. *And note, I'm saying "if this was the case that he did not use Steroids."

Look what happened to Chris Byrd: he went from taking on the likes of the Klitschko brothers, McCline, Tua, etc...to getting knocked out by Shaun George in embarrassing fashion. Look at his legs specifically in that fight. That's what happened to Jones.

So tell me what happened to Byrd?

And tell me what happened to the list of fighters that Freddie Roach even talked about with weight loss similar to this?

Even simple things like severe dehydration can weaken you which in return weakens your ability to absorb a punch and work at a high level.
This is also why some fighters that fight at a lower weight and have to struggle to make weight can have a stronger chin when they move up in weight and are healthier. They're stronger.

He lost his legs specifically when he came down in weight. And once you lose your legs, your done.

And then throw in the Mental factor. These fighters train for confidence to build that mindset to take a punch. Their focused on the task at hand. When you are not, it's like getting sucker punched.

Look at his performance. Look at his physical performance instead of the opponent. He was DEAD when he came back down in weight. Against the opponents after Hall, he was still "live" and moving around and throwing. He looked healthy. After Ruiz, after the weight loss, he looked "ill." He couldn't move. He looked like a drained fighter from that point on.

Toastin' in a roll bread.... But excellent point here.

Based on the logic of ESB's resident chin fetishists, you would have to believe that Byrd has an even worst chin than RJJ. Yes Byrd, the man that went the distance with Wlad (took dozens of flush bombs in that fight) handily outboxed Tua for 12 rds and stopped Vitali ... Somehow, couldn't go the full 12 with a journeyman at light heavyweight that sported a 39% KO ratio...the only logical conclusion one can reach on how this was able to occur, is that Byrd is, was and always has been a china chinned fraud...amirite or amirite?

Even on boxrec you can see that he beat a lot of good fighters who went on to get belts and good wins.

Roy Jones messed his fans about by refusing to make some of the biggest fights of the 90's, he was also caught with anabolic steroids in his system the first time he was tested. He'll make the Hall of Fame, but for me he's no ATG, it's disgraceful to talk about him in the same breath as Ray Robinson, Ray Leonard, Tommy Hearns, Hagler, Floyd Mayweather and many other great fighters. ATG's don't get dominated and KO'd by Glen Johnson (and don't give me the he was drained nonsense, Toney was heavily drained when he fought Roy, and that's credited as a legit win).

RJJ started getting KTFO on the backside of his career. Ray Leonard did also. A lot of folks claim RJJ has a glass jaw, but I can name a bunch of fighters that remained vertical for the most part in their prime, but started getting dropped and/or stopped when they got old, SRL being the number one example.

As far as the HOF, Calslappy will surely get in, his resume is laughable, but he will still get in. Hatton probably will also. The standards for the HOF are waaaayyy too loose!!!!!

Why can't people post about RJJ without bringing up Joe Calzaghe? This is becoming a recurring theme on these boards. Calzaghe beat the man and unified his division, stepped up to LHW and beat the man there. RJJ never beat the man in any division, his best wins are against a green Hopkins, who needed another two attempts to win a world title, and a severely weight drained Toney. Calzaghe proved he could fight through adversity, and come from behind to win, he had a plan B and plan C. Roy never did, he folded when he was up against it. Joe retired undefeated having been a world champion for 10 years, and cleared out the SMW division, and beat the man at LHW.

Ricky Hatton probably won't get into the HOF, not for a long long time at least.

The standards for the HOF are very loose. As far as Calslappy goes, if you think he had a sterling career especially because of his padded unbeaten record, then good for you. You are entitled to your opinion , people like who they like. My point is if Calslappy is gonna get in, so should Jones.

I already said Jones will make the Hall of Fame, I criticised him and outlined why he isn't an ATG for me, go and re-read my original post, and tell me where I'm wrong? You know I'm not, which is why you've had to bring up Joe Calzaghe. If you want padded records, look no further than Roy Jones, how many times did he 'have to fight his mandatory', how many of the names (like Mccallum, Hill) were well past it and Hopkins was green, Toney was weight drained. Joe beat the man in two divisions, Roy never did. Calzaghe had courage, a chin and could fight through adversity. Roy messed his fans around by refusing to make some of the biggest fights of the 90's, and was caught with anabolic steroids in his system the first time he was tested.
