If you cut through the round breaks I uploaded the full ten rounds of George Benton Vs Rubin Carter, one of the most intriguing and fun ten rounders you'll see between two top quality and rounded contenders, and a great styles clash between a brilliant defensive boxer-puncher and a rugged power puncher, who shows his own skills as well.

    :good

Yeah, Tete seems pretty talented alright, just thrown in at world level a bit too soon I think. Granted he'd fought at quite a good level for a guy with only 13 fights* going into the Mthalane bout, but he hadn't had - and still hasn't, really - a fight that could have him adequately prepared for world that caliber of opponent. He's still got pretty predictable movement and a ''bow and arrow'' jab, which really spelled trouble for him against someone who's actually got some offensive awareness in Mthalane.

    * Though the reasoning for that could be age. You won't find it listed anywhere as far as I know, but according to his handlers he was 20 when the Mthalane fight happened, which I'm skeptical of to say the least.

As for Mthalane, he hasn't got anything lined up right now as far as I'm aware. He's annoyingly inactive too - since becoming ''champion'' he generally only fights every 6/7 months or so - but seeing as his last fight was in October we should expect something soon I guess. Yesterday the IBF made an eliminator for their #2 position between Ricardo Nunez and Carlos Tamara, which is to take place some time in April. I'm hoping Mthalane has a fight in the interim against a Viloria, Marquez, Concepcion, etc. I wouldn't hold my breath for that though.

    Yeah, Tete deffo' appears older.

As I said in my earlier post, he may well have been rushed to cash in, that's Too harsh, to give him an opportunity, before his health problems resurfaced again. It was either a collapse, a heart problem or a brain injury. And was either during training or after a match :D Was in BN years ago, I can't remember the specifics!

:think Can't say I know anything more than yourself regarding any injuries. He's back out on Friday anyways, the name of the dude he's fighting escapes me as of right now. He's a South African domestic-level guy with a 25-4-1 kind of record if I'm not mistaken.

I found a report on the Rosas fight by the way, it doesn't shed an awful lot of light though:

Nice work, looks like his team value the experience if not another mark in the loss column :good

Cheers just watched Benton-Carter enjoyed it was quality never seen either before but liked both there styles especially Benton. Thought it was closer than the 7-2-1 scorecard mind.

Zamora-Sukathai 1st time I've seen Zamora too what was the deal with the Thai was he top class too? Looked strong but a bit wild with it as well.

Sukhothai was a good enough contender, a deaf-mute Thai boxer who, like a few Thai fighters of that era and after, was obviously a big Ali fan, but, as you say was wild in terms of offence.

In terms of how good he was, not only did he give Zamora a few good rounds he had a couple of fights with former top Fly contender Fernando Cabanela, and beat future no.1 super featherweight Rolando Navarette.

Glad you liked the Benton-Carter fight. I had it a draw (5-5) and thought the 10th round was excellent. Check out the highlights of a prime Benton taking top contender Bobby Boyd apart, also on my channel, it's Floyd Jr way before he actually came about :D :good

  9. The improvements that Cintron had made between the first and second fights were apparent, he was punching better - both harder and more accurately, but Margarito's ability to just walk through him saw him fold again.

Margarito was a sick ****, seemed to love being whacked on the chin. There can't be many better chins in the 147 division, considering the amount of flush shots he regularly took from heavy hitters.

Cintron did improve a lot between fights the reason i think he lost both fights was his inability to keep Margarito of and he just couldnt keep up with the pace, he always seemed to start the rounds good landing clean on Margarito but eventually he tired in the last two minutes of the round from about the third round on which then led to the stoppage with more stamina i think Cintron could have gave Margarito a lot of problems.

Watched Matthew Saad Muhammad vs John Conteh 1.

    Round 1 10-9 Muhammad
    Round 2 10-9 Conteh
    Round 3 10-9 Conteh
    Round 4 10-9 Muhammad
    Round 5 10-9 Muhammad
    Round 6 10-9 Conteh
    Round 7 10-9 Conteh
    Round 8 10-9 Muhammad
    Round 9 10-9 Conteh
    Round 10 10-9 Muhammad
    Round 11 10-9 Conteh
    Round 12 10-9 Muhammad
    Round 13 10-9 Muhammad
    Round 14 10-7 Muhammad
    Round 15 10-9 Muhammad

    144-139 Matthew Saad Muhammad.

Im becoming more of a fan of Matthew Saad the more I see of him. Hes a real fight fans fighter, and tough as nails. Good performance against Conteh, and a very good win for him, even if John was past his prime. Conteh boxed beautifully in parts of this fight, showing contolling rounds with his class jab, excellent defense and scoring with some meaty right hands. Matthew made decent use of the jab himself and started finding his range more and more as the fight went on, the fifth round being where he first really started connecting with the heavy stuff. Conteh was able to come back in the 6th, giving Muhammad a fairly bad cut, which bled throughout the fight. They traded rounds for most of the bout, till Muhammad began to wear down Conteh in the championship rounds, which culminated in Conteh being down twice in the 14th from straight lefts. He was lucky to make it out of the round, clearly close to being stopped. I had Muhammad taking the last round to, giving him a competitive, yet clear victory.

Im going to have a look at Steve Collins vs Reggie Johnson next, which ive heard was a very close fight.

Read my Encyclopedia entry on Saad ;-) Arguably my favourite fighter, and in more great fights than Gatti and Ward combined :deal

IMO, he's one of the ten greatest 175lbers of all time.

Will do Flea Man, forgot anyone even did one on him. That Yacqui Lopez fight was crazy good, dont know how either of them made it to the 14th round. No doubt all those wars Muhammad was in took a premature end to his prime.

Bobby Chacon V Rafael 'Bazooka' Limon 4

    1 - Limon
    2 - Chacon
    3 - Limon 10-8
    4 - Chacon
    5 - Limon
    6 - Chacon
    7 - Chacon
    8 - Chacon
    9 - Chacon 10-8
    10 - Limon 10-8
    11 - Limon
    12 - Chacon
    13 - Chacon
    14 - Chacon
    15 - Chacon 10-8

    143-138 Chacon

What an awesome fight, two warriors just brutalising each other for the full fifteen but Chacon rallied hard and took the final third to win the match. I gave Chacon a 10-8 in round 9 even though Limon didn't go down because I thought he won the first half of the round then litterally dominated the second half and had him out on his feet. He did again later - round 13/14 but i though at least Limon got some offence off despite being goosed.

Anyway, top fight - i recommend if you haven't seen it already
