Mitchell dances back, light on his toes, floating like a butterfly and jabbing. Ayala isn't in a hurry to get inside on him. Lunging right hand lead by Ayala, easily spun away from by Mitchell. Jab to the six-pack by Ayala. Mitchell comes crabbing in and taps Ayala with some sideways-thrust jabs, then a right to the body. Sloppy exchange as Mitchell scoots back out of the pocket and Ayala chases, both throwing body punches and losing their footing. Clinch. Break. Mitchell dances around, keeping Ayala stopping and pivoting. Ayala watches from outside, and tries to double a jab to the body to set up a right hand to the jaw. Mitchell blocks it all. Clinch. Mitchell taps the body. High jab, right to the body by Ayala - all blocked.

Round 7

Mitchell feigns with jabs and rights, and Ayala leans back to cover up before lunging with a slingshot right and pushing Mitchell's head straight back. Mitchell is staying in tight, left arm held low, working off the jab. Ayala is throwing hard spearing rights up top, double jabs, and body shots. Mitchell eats a right hand, and tries to come back with a jab and chopping overhand but misses while diving in. Clinch and both work the body.

Round 8

Left hook to the face by Ayala as Mitchell dives in and lands a hard right to the body. Both guys are putting more emphasis in their shots knowing it's the last round. Wild loose-armed combo by Mitchell coming forward, missing. Ayala is coming forward with one long sniping shot at a time. Mitchell backs up and flutters his left jab, but gets whacked into the ropes by a right-left-right combo. Clinch. Mitchell shoves Ayala back toward the ropes. Ayala hunches his shoulders up and marches in on the smaller man. Clinch. Break. Jabs by Ayala on the way in. Mitchell changes directions, staying away from the ropes. Ayala walks him down, cutting the ring off. SOLID chopping right by Ayala. Mitchell tries to lean over to one side to show some slick defense, but Ayala finds him with a low left hook to the head. Mitchell wings out some crazy punches coming forward with his head bowed. Ayala is backing up and looking for a 1-2 counter. Mitchell is diving just past them and clinching briefly before resetting. Sloppy tie up and Ayala almost falls down.
