    No.

Everything up through and including the knockdown is 100% legitimate.

Ali wasn't feather fisted, and he caught Liston with a perfect short right hand - very much like the one he dropped Big Cat with in the video in the OP, actually.

You can argue that Liston's behavior after the knockdown - flopping around and basically gagging for a stoppage - suggests a man who doesn't want any more and is packing it in by exaggerating the extent to which he was hurt/incapacitated. If you want to call it a "dive" in that sense...OK, argument can be made.

The phantom punch issue, though. :-( There was nothing phantom about it. A punch landed, and regardless of whether it "looked like" it should have dropped a tough guy like Liston the fact is that it did, legitimately. The "fix" was not in. If Liston tanked it after the knockdown, that was his own spontaneous choice. There was nothing prearranged with Ali to stage the knockdown. He got hit with a real punch he wasn't expecting and was involuntarily sent to the canvas by it. Everything up to that moment is beyond debate, IMO.

    :rofl

Liston was in rippled muscular shape @219lbs as you can see in teh film-footage And was only 37 years old. :deal

HOW many fights does Liston show a great chin taking lots of bombs in wars VS proper powerful natural heavyweight-punchers?? :huh

    I'll give you a clue m8 - ZERO, ALWAYS A ZERO. :hi:

    To continue -

Liston was sparked legit clean out :dead by one-punch in Round 1 by a young Ali.

    [yt]uzWynvBLJ4I[/yt]

NOW Ali is teh GOAT, But he is no puncher at all, And hits no harder then Holmes. :deal

Liston did not see this fast punch coming, And teh ones you dont see.... ANYWAY my point is Ali landed a fast unseen counter-punch on Slow-Ass Sonny "Lummox" Liston. :bbb

Liston-Fangirls claim this was a dive - BUT Liston's own wife Geraldine always said Sonny told her numerous times personally it was NOT a dive, it was a real KO loss. MAYBE Liston quit by not getting up faster, But i dont think he could of got up faster, as his legs were JELLY. Watch Liston fall over again as he tries his hardest to get back up! It is a bit like Tyson VS Berbick, were teh unlucky KO-victim got their equilibrium-scrambled by a big punch And cannot get up without falling back down against their will. People do like to complain like bitches about how Joey Walcott reffed this fight, But most refs would of jumped in And called it a TKO when Liston/another boxer helplessly falls back over to teh canvas as they struggle to get up, FACT.:yep

Yes, that was a shame, but it was also a shame the Soviets weren't allowed to participate when he was champ- he would have had serious competition. So everyone got cheated Ali lost 3 prime years- and we got Bobick.

You can't accurately guage a fighter when their opponent is in such poor condition. Big Cat was a very sick man during that fight, of course Ali is going to run rings around him.

    Are you a boxing fan?

He's one of those Klitschko fans who supports or gives credit to any fighter that makes Wlad or Vitaly look better. He doesn't know **** about boxing nor does he care to.

There has never been a heavy weight that moved like Ali. He was something to watch.

The phantom punch myth has been "exposed" for decades.

The win is hardly overrated. It's a damn good win that absolutely nobody rates, because most people still believe the ludicrous dive legend.

is there any fighter who is not considered a myth, hypejob, fraud, exposed, overrated? Why even bother watching the sport anymore? So f&cking boring and tired.
