He also got hit far more than any elite fighter should against an ancient Zaragoza. Then again he was young. While he was probably more of a head to head force at 122 due to his size and offensive capabilities, he became a better boxer later on, at least when he could be bothered to carry a strict game plan. Gomez would've eaten him up at 122.

Agreed. He didn't have elite competition at 122. As you mentioned his size and offensive ability allowed him to run through his competition rather than rely on technique. Obviously as he went up in weight it got harder to mow guys down so he had to start factoring in some measure of Boxing skill.

He looked poor in patches against Zaragoza, but he more than likely learned a hell of a lot from that match up. I loved the Junior Jones fight up at 126. (I think it was 126:huh)

Morales would box until he got tagged clean, then we saw what he was really made of. Real shame we never saw him fight Marquez.

The Jones fight was at 122. It looked like Jones was ready to be taken by then, having just come off a big KO loss to McKinney. Morales pretty much mowed him down as I recall, although I haven't watched that one in a while.

Morales on his PRIME would had NEVER lost by ko against a Jr Jones or get embarrassed by Pacman on a one side beating like Barrera did. :deal

Not to mention Barrera would had been KTFO against Maidana if he ever fought him at this stage.:deal

So I ask you, How is Barrera flat out better than Morales????

Junior Jones works in a bank now if I remember right, his health is pretty good though he's worried one day he'll suffer effects from Boxing.

How does Morales look basic when he fights? Have you just started watching him the last 3 years where his legs were gone and he relied heavily on the right hand?

Nothing 'average' about morales. He has elite level skill and he's great in just about all areas. He wasn't physically super talented, but not all ATG's are Roy Jones / Pacquiao types.

His right hand lead was on par with Floyd Mayweathers and Bernard Hopkins.
